There are five different classes worth of skills inDune: Awakening, but you only have access to four right out of the gate. The fifth is the Planetologist, and to learn any of their skills, you’re going to need tofind the trainer out in the desert.
Completing his first quest is going to unlock access to base-level Planetologist skills, but if you’re looking to grab even more, it’s going to be a very involved process. This is going to take you back and forth across the world, and require quite a lot of effort, but at the end of it all, you’ll have everything the Planetologist has to offer.
How To Find Imperial Testing Station No. 197
The first part of the advanced portion of the Planetologist questline is going to take you toImperial Testing Station No. 197, located on thesouth side of the Western Vermillius Gap.
Once you get there, you’ll need to drop down the large hole leading to the entrance;Derek will be at the bottom of the hole, and you’ll need to speak with him.
How To Find The Minimic Film Records In Imperial Testing Station No. 197
After speaking with Derek, you’ll need tograb the Minimic Film records inside this Imperial Station, a task that you’re going to become abundantly familiar with.
Much of the time, these records are going to be behind false walls that lead into secret rooms in these Stations. But, once you’re tracking the quest, they’ll show up on your compass, and we’ll tell you which room they’re in each time, as well.
In the case of this Testing Station, you aren’t going to enter it in the location that looks like the entrance, near Derek; that’s actually the exit. You’ll want tohead northwest through the wide rock tunnel. This will eventually lead to a doorway, which is the entrance to the Station.
Fairly early on in the Station, you’re going to come up to a green door.Head through the green door, and into the room immediately to your left. This is where the Film record is located. Once you’ve got it, you’re free to head back to Derek.
You can continue on through the entire Station if you’d like, but there is nothing else specifically regarding this quest inside.
Another thing you’re going to get familiar with in this questline is returning to Derek’s camp, which islocated right above Imperial Testing Station No. 2, and about half a kilometer from Griffin’s Reach.
Head here, speak to Derek, and he’llrequest you tohead to Arakeen.
How To Fly To Arakeen
If you don’t have your own Ornithopter, you can still fly to either Arakeenor Harko Village, it’ll justcost you 2,500 Solari each time you would like to do so. For our purposes here, we’ll beflying out of Griffin’s Reachsince it’s so close, but you can do this from any location with an Ornithopter pilot.
How To Find Cyprian In Arakeen
From where you land in Arakeen,head up the stairs, and go immediately right, into the Salusan Bull.Head up two sets of stairs, and to the back right corner of the bar.
Cyprian will be sitting under an umbrella with a bodyguard nearby.
From here, return to Derek’s Camp and inform him of the new information.
How To Find Imperial Testing Station No. 76
Next up is going to be Imperial Testing Station No. 76, which islocated in the central section of the Jabal Eifrit Al-janub region.
A Survey Launcher and a probe are a great way to pinpoint the location of any point of interest, once you know you’re in the right general region.
How To Find The Planetologist Inside Testing Station No. 76
Derek is going to be inside the entrance this time,down the first staircase section and in a cage between two doors. He’ll blend in fairly well with what’s around him, but his unique glowglobe will stick out here.
How To Find The Minimic Film Records In Imperial Testing Station No. 76
In here, you’ll need to get through a fair few rooms. Eventually, you’llcome upon a room with glass windows on the left overlooking the rest of the room. You’ll need to climb the staircase into that room, and head to the false wall in the back right to find the Minimic Film Records.
The room immediately following this section is the final room of the Station, and it has no enemies, so you may as well head that way to get out.
You’re also going to need thekeys to Derek’s cage, which are located in the first room after Derek,which is covered in plants.
After that, you’ll need to go back to Derek’s camp.
How To Find Thufir Hawat
Once you speak to Derek back at camp, he’ll request you to gosee Thufir Hawat, a Mentat back at Arakeen. You’ll need to fly there once more, and then head all the way to the opposite side of the location from where the pilot drops you off, into the area without a roof.
How To Find Sietch Tarl
You’re going to need tofind Sietch Tarl next, before you go back to Derek. You’ll find this on theborder of the northern O’odham and the Western Shield Wall. There’s a large gap in the rocks here, and you’ll have a map marker in more or less the exact spot.
Head inside this crevice, read the note in there, andthen head back to Derek at camp.
How To Find Imperial Testing Station No. 29
Next up is going to be Imperial Testing Station No. 29,located in the Hagga Rift. It’s located just northwest of Testing Station No. 23.
It’s a steep drop into this section, and it does not have a staircase like the last one with a similar drop.
Meet Derek down here, and then it’s the same deal in this Testing Station:grab the Minimic Film record.
This time, the Film record is adjacent to the last room in the Station, meaning you’ll basically have to clear this entire Station.
How To Find Imperial Testing Station No. 71
The next Imperial Testing Station is going to be No. 71,located further to the West from the last one. For the second to last time, you’re on the same hunt for the Minimic Film records, as well as another note.
The Minimic Film records are fairly early on in this Station; keep to the left in the early going, and there is going to be a branching route. The route to the left contains the Minimic Film, on the other end of another one of the same style of door.
As for the other item you’ll need to grab in here, it’s going to belocated in the last room with a huge fight in here;a circular room, with multiple melee enemies and multiple heavy enemies. There are a couple of small closet-like rooms connected to this, and the note is in one of these.
Back To Camp
After this, you’ll need to head back to camp, and thenback to Arakeen to see Cyprian. Once you’ve spoken to him, it’s back to camp again, but this time, there’s going to be a fight.Two groups of enemies are going to attack one at a time; one right next to the camp, and one on the next pillar over.
Once you’ve taken care of these enemies, you’ll need toread the note left on Derek’s table.
How To Find Imperial Testing Station No. 163
We’re in the final stretch, and this is thelast Minimic Film you’ll need to find.Imperial Testing Station No. 163 is actually a short walk north of No. 71.
You’ll need toclear this entire Station, since the Minimic Film is in the very last room. But, it doesn’t provide any extra challenge compared to the other Stations, and might actually be a little bit easier.
Return To Camp For The Final Time
And finally,head back to camp to speak to Derek one last time. He’ll teach you his final bit of Planetologist knowledge, and you’ll be able to spend skill points to unlock any of his skills that you’d like.
