InElden Ring Nightreign, you play as Nightfarers, pre-set characters who not only have unique skills and ultimate abilities, but even storylines. These are told via the Journal at the Roundtable Hold, but you’ll need to play through the game and earn Memory Fragments to delve deeper.

But it’s not just written diary entries you can peruse: you can also trigger Remembrances, which are more involved gameplay segments that transport you back in time through each Nightfarer’s backstory. There’s a mix of objectives that task you with venturing into Expeditions, as well as entirely new, separate locales, all leading towards a themed skin thatyou can equip at the Mirror.

What Is The Journal?

You can find the Journal in the Roundtable Hold right at the start of the gameafter you brave the tutorial. It’s a big tome on a cluttered desk to theleft of the Lost Table of Grace, and contains every Nightfarer’s memories, even if you aren’t playing as that specific character.

If you want to access the Journal, you can also fast travel to it on the map when at the Roundtable Hold, which will immediately open it.

How To Unlock Memory Fragments

If you want to progress a Nightfarer’s questline, you’ll need to unlock new pages in the Journal, which meansfinding Memory Fragments. While the game makes it sound like these are an item found in your inventory like Relics, they don’t work that way. Instead, when acquired, they are automatically used to progress the Journal.

The game never spells out how to unlock these, and it oftentimes seems random, buta surefire way to get them is by beating Nightlords with that specific character. So, if you want to see more of the Revenant’s questline, you have to win Expeditions with her.

Revenant’s Remembrances

In total,Revenant has three Remembrancesto unlock, and given that she’s a secret character, her questline is a little trickier than others.

If you haven’t unlocked her yet, we havea guide on how to do just that.

That being said, it’s worth pushing through, as you’ll be rewarded with character-specific Relics that vastly improveher abilities.

Remembrance #1

WhileExecutor picks flowersandWylder goes caving to find a Whetstone, the Revenant has to beat a Nightlord for her first objective.

Once you’ve completed the first Remembrance, you’ll be rewarded with the Small Makeup Brush, which increases Rune acquisition for yourself and nearby allies, while also strengthing the Revenant when fighting alongside her ‘family’, ie the three summonable spirits.

Remembrance #2

Revenant’s second Remembrance is where her narrative really picks up, as you’re transported to an unnerving Bloodborne-esque manor.

Your spirits will serve as great distractions to prevent Corrosion from overwhelming you.

Once you’re back at the Roundtable Hold, you’re rewarded with the Revenant’s Chalice, which allows you to use three different coloured Relics: blue, green, and a tier of your choosing.

Remembrance #3

The final Remembrance goes back to the crux of Revenant’s backstory, allowing us to see “what transpired upon that stormy night”. It’s a bittersweet, heartbreaking conclusion, and worth venturing into for the final cutscene alone.

After this brief finale, you’re given the Revenant’s unique Remembrance skin, as well as the Old Portrait Relic. When equipped, you’ll get the following boons:
