There can be a lot of variance between runs inThe King Is Watching, and a big part of that variance is going to come down to which Advisors you choose to use each run. There are a ton of different Advisors to choose from, and you’ll unlock extra slots to have multiple equipped at the same time as you progress.
These Advisors provide passive effects for your Kingdom throughout the run. These effects can range from broad to niche, and you can bring an assortment of Advisors that all focus on a similar thing, or have a range of them boosting many different mechanics.
How To Unlock More Advisors
You’llstart with one Council Slot, and one Advisor to fit into that slot.To unlock more slots, you’ll need to go to the Upgrade section; specifically, the Blue upgrade tree.
This is the tree that’s going to be most pivotal when it comes to the Council and your Advisors. There aremultiple Advisor slots to gain here with Denarii, which are earned by completing runs. There are also a lot of new Advisors to unlock, which we’ll detail a little further below.
These Advisors are assorted into trees, meaning you won’t be able to select any that you want from the start. You’ll need to work your way through the tree in order to gain them all.
How To Change Advisors
To change Advisors, you’llgo into the Council section of the Kingdom page. Alternatively, you can change Advisors while setting up a run, underneath the King that you select on the left side of the book.

There are28 different Advisors to unlock, on top of Gustav, the Advisor that you start the game with.
Branimir

Increases the health of your Castle by 100, which won’t save a hopeless run, but can buy you time to turn a troublesome run into a suitable one.
Twins
The Twinsgive you a Basic Construction building at the start of the run, which will help you grab one of the less easy-to-obtain resources quicker than you otherwise would.
Julian

Gives you the ability to increase production by 50 percent for 10 secondsat the cost of 20 Wood.
Accountant

This just gives you a100 Denarii bonus at the start of your run.
Wise Tree

Removes the ability to gain Wood with buildings, and insteadgives you certain new resources upon killing enemies, as well as some spells that allow you to gather Wood in a less consistent way.
Silkweaver

Silkweaverimproves one tile at random at the beginning of a run. you’re able to luck out with a good layout with this, or it can end up not being too useful.
Fancy Beard
Thisreduces the cost of producing Troops by 20 percent, as well asincreases the Troop production speed by 20 percent.
Jester

Thisgrants you two Wheel of Fortune buildings at the start of a run, which will gain you random resource packs while they’re active.
Ember

Thisgains you two Musketeers at the beginning of your run. While it’s only two of them, these are particularly troublesome Troops to produce.
Manager

The Managerreduces your base Troop Limit by two, allowing you to field more Troops from the start.
Court Harpy
This lets yousee all of the bosses that you’ll be facing in your run, allowing you to plan ahead a bit easier.
Zeus
Each wave, one enemy will be dealt 1000 damage. This can be extremely useful, or next to useless, depending on which enemy it hits.
Phoenix
Thisgives your Troops a 7 percent chance at resurrection. This is much more useful if you’re fielding a lot of Troops.
Betty
Thisgrants you extra Denarii when you complete a wave, but removes your ability to gain Wheat with buildings.
Automaton
The Automatongives you 5 more Tree and Small Wheat Fieldswhen you start a run.
Ether
Thisincreases your spell production by 20 percent, which is only useful when making use of things like Magic Schools.
Wise Guy
Thisgives you a spell at the start of your run, which can save you from an early situation going south.
Golem
Reduces the cost of buildings by 10 percent, which, when combined with a resource production boost, can make a noticeable difference in how easily you’re able to create buildings.
Jacques
Jacquesensures you have a 20 percent discount when purchasing buildings and resourcesfrom the Trader.
Flunkey
Thisgains you an extra 10 Denarii after each completed waveof enemies.
Mushroom King
Thisgives you the ability to summon three Mushroom Soldiers for 50 Crystals. These are very valuable Troops, and this can help you keep enemies from overpowering your forces, especially in the early and mid-game.
Panther
Thisincreases the bonuses that units gain when leveling upby 10 percent.
Lyanna
Lyannagrants you a small assortment of bonus Troops at the start of your run; these Troops aren’t hugely useful later on, but in the early going, they can hold the fort on their own.
Angry Eye

Thisincreases your spell damage by 50 percent; if you’re making heavy use of Magic Schools and the like, this Advisor is going to make a tremendous difference.
Unicorn
Thisgrants you three extra spell slots, which lets you accrue more spells for later use at a time.
Felix
Felixgrants you one Artifact at the start of your run, which will provide you with a passive bonus that can dramatically impact your build.
Sophy
100
This is going toincrease the building variety that you can obtain at the Research Table, increasing the value of that building by quite a bit.
