Elden Ring Nightreignis a bit different from the original Elden Ring experience. While the latter was renowned for its incredible world and freedom of exploration, Nightreign decided to push much farther in a different direction, and that meant doubling down on the combat of the game. Without a strong world, how do you make this setting stand out?

With unique, pre-built characters, of course. Each of these Nightfarers have a unique way of playing, and all of them have a story centered around Remembrances too, reliving parts of their life they had otherwise forgotten. Ironeye came to the Roundtable Hold with a mission however, and some of it is yet to pass.

What Is The Journal?

While there are a great many Nightfarers to play as, the Roundtable is only so large, and so that story has to be compiled and centralised somewhere for easy access. This is handled through the Journal, a book located near the garden side of the Rountable Hold. The Journal contains written entires related to each character, their story unravelling further with each subsequent entry.

The Journal is also where Remembrances are accessed, picked up from the latest entry in the Journal once they have been unlocked. In general, each character has around eight entries in their respective Journal, though this can somewhat fluctuate across characters. Quite as they are, Executor has only seven, while the protective Guardian has a total of 10.

You can tell when most character’s Journal entries are complete bythe addition of a sketch on the last entry.

Thankfully, you may view the Journal at any timewhen you’re in the Roundtable Hold, regardless of the character you’re playing as too. If you ever need a recap on just what a certain character has gone through, just pop over to the Journal and give it a read.

How To Unlock Memory Fragments

Memory Fragments are a slightly vague concept in Nightreign. While they may initially be described in a way that makes them seem like an item that would go into your inventory and perhaps expended to unlock Journal entries and Remembrances, that is not the case. Instead,Memory Fragments are unlocked partially randomly, and when unlocked automatically unlock the next Journal entry and/or Remembrance for the character you were playing as when it was acquired.

With the knowledge of what a Memory Fragment is and does, we should go about finding them. This is a bit more difficult, because there are only more likely methods to acquire them, but none that are 100% guaranteed. For example, some characters can unlock Memory Fragments by doing actions unique to them, like Executor performing numerous deflections. This is very random however, and never exactly clear when you would be doing an action that would unlock them.

As such, we should instead focus on more surefire methods. For the most part, defeating Nightlords with a given character will unlock Memory Fragments for them, which in turn gives you more Remembrances. Each subsequent Remembrance for a character tends to require further progress than the last. For example, you can typically get a character’s very first Remembrance simply by completing an expedition with them, regardless of how far you actually got in the match. Participation is enough. Later ones however, typically require the defeat of a Nightlord at the end of an expedition.

Rarely, you will get a Memory Fragment and it will only unlock a new Journal Entry and not the next Remembrance. In others, you will get one Memory Fragment and it will grant multiple Journal entries and even multiple Remembrances. For the most part though, you will unlock a single Remembrance with a single Memory Fragment.

Ironeye’s Remembrances

For most characters, they have three Remembrances to relive, though there are exceptions to this. Guardian actually has four Remembrances to play through, while Ironeye has two. Technically, anyway.Ironeye has two active Remembrances that must be unlocked, and a final personal objective that you must intuit from actually reading his Journal entries. So here are all of his Remembrances, and how to get his unique ending.

Remembrance #1

Ironeye’s first Remembrance tasks him with travelling to Limveldin search of a letter held by a traitorto the Fellowship, a clandestine group he is part of. Here are all the steps and some tips to deal with the traitor:

The traitor takes the form of a Condemned in the shape of Ironeye. This traitor uses a dagger thatdeals heavy Blood Loss, as well as the Swarm of Flies Incantation to deal Blood Loss at a distance. They of course also have the customary bow, and the ability to Mark you just like the real Ironeye can. It is best to keep your distance where you can to avoid the Blood Loss, and manual aiming can help with this if you position yourself in a higher place.

Don’t be afraid to wait until the second day to fight the traitor as they are quite strong, buttry to be at least level three minimum before taking them on. After defeating them, you wil get the Traitor’s Letter. Return this to the Priestess to complete the Remembrance and get theBroken Sealing Wax Relic Relic and Ironeye’s Chalicefor Relic Rites.

Remembrance #2

Ironeye’s second and last Remembrance involves snuffing out another traitor, and this time uncovering some dark secrets about his own existence. Here is every step and how to complete them.

This is important. You need to be in the Realm of Remembrance when heading out on the Darkdrift Knight expedition. You cannot do this as another character. Because you have to beat a Nightlord, it would be very difficult to complete this solo, though being in a Remembrance also excludes you from matchmaking with anyone else with a Remembrance active. So try to find some friends to help you out with this one, or you might be stuck matchmaking for quite a while.

The Darkdrift Knight itself, Fulghor, is weak to Lightning, so make sure to pick up a weapon with that along the way. Otherwise, try to keep your distance when taking him downand let your allies take the bulk of his attacks. It’s a tough one.

Remembrance #3

Ironeye’s final Remembrance works a bit differently than everyone else’s in the sense that it technically doesn’t exist. Remembrances, by merit of their name, are typically recollections of things that have already happened, and hence why the choices you make ultimately lead to the same end. For Ironeye, his third Remembrance hasn’t happened yetbecause he still needs to fulfil his mission - tokill the Night Aspect.

As such, to complete Ironeye’s third and final Remembrance, you must defeat Night Aspect. Since this does not take place in the Realm of Remembrance, you may freely participate in matchmaking without fears of being restrictedas a result of a Remembrance being active. Since this is the final boss of the game, you would be hard-pressed to complete it solo, so try to get a good team together.

While it possibly is not necessary, make sure to have Ironeye’s Edge of Order Relic equipped for this expedition as it grants his bow Holy, which Night Aspect is weak to. Once you finally do defeat Heolstor, you are brought to a ruined version of the Roundtable Hold where an emaciated body awaits you at the very end. Rather than placing the Nightlord’s Rune within him, insteadchoose to ‘Clench Dagger’,and then affirm your choice in the next prompt.

This will cause Ironeye to kill the figure before him entirely, completing his mission. After the credits roll, you will be given Ironeye’s Remembrance outfit, and his story will be entirely complete.

As Ironeye’s ending is different from the default game ending, you will not get a trophy/achievementfor completing the game this way.
