Palworld’s Tides of Terrariaupdate added a significant amount of content to the game, including some much-awaited features, such as fishing so that you can catch some new pals residing in the waters. However, you can’t simply go to any body of water and start fishing right away.
The game requires you to craft fishing rods first. These fishing sets can then be used to fish for Pals and other materials in the water. But crafting and using these fishing kits can be a challenge on their own if you don’t know how to unlock them first. You will also need to be vigilant while playing the fishing mini-game, and you might need to practice to get it right.

To use fishing rods, you’llfirst need to craft bait, which will lure the fish pals to you. You’ll automaticallyunlock Simple Bait alongside the Beginner Fishing Set. However, if you wish to catch more powerful Pals, you’ll need to craft better types of bait, which can be unlocked from the technology menu at the following levels.

Bait can also be crafted on any Production Line inside your base. All types of bait are crafted in bundles of ten, except Alluring Bait, which can only be crafted as a singular item.
After you’ve crafted bait, you’ll have toequip the fishing rod in your weapon slot from your inventory menu. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able tofish on any body of waterwhere you cansee the shadows of Pals swimming underneaththe water.
The Fishing Mini-Game
you’re able to find most fishing spots alongside any shore, but if you’re having trouble finding one, you can alwayshead to the Fisherman’s Point area, where you’ll be able to find tons of intermediate-level Pals near the docks.
you may easily spot these fishing spots by the glowing shadows of the Pals that are swimming under the water.
These shadows are even easier to spot during the night or byusing a flying Pal, such as Jetragon.
After you’ve located a fishing spot, you’re able to check thespot’s level while aiming your lure in the water. Advanced and Master level fishing spots have rarer and higher-level Pals, but those are also difficult to catch compared to Pals found in the intermediate and beginner fishing spots.
You can also encounter Alpha Pals while fishing. These Alpha Pals usually have glowing shadows.
After you’ve thrown the lure into the water, you’ll simply have to wait until you get a bite. Depending on the quality of your fishing rod and the bait, you’ll have an easier time catching even stronger Palsfrom the Master and Advanced fishing spots. Higher-quality bait also makes it quicker for the Pals to bite your lure.
Right after you see the double exclamation mark on the lure, you can press the corresponding button to reel in, which will initiate the fishing mini-game. Here, you have tokeep the fish within the bar, which will cause the fishing gauge to fill. If the fish escapes the bar, the gauge will deplete, and once it’s completely empty, the fish will escape.
Once the fishing gauge is full, you’llcatch the Pal, and all of the materials that you get from capturing the Pal will be added to your inventory, or fall around you if your inventory is full. ensure that you clear your inventory before fishing to avoid throwing items to make space later to avoid this.
A Fishing rod is also required to salvage materials from the rubble found in the open sea. In higher-level areas, you might find them bubbling, so you may use a Fishing Magnet to collect rare items.
