InElden Ring Nightreign, you play as Nightfarers, who are more involved classes that have their own ultimate arts and character skills. But their distinct qualities go beyond gameplay, as each has a dedicated storyline that you can progress through as you complete Expeditions.
These are told through memories and are a far more direct means of storytelling than what we typically see in FromSoftware games. You won’t have to sift through item descriptions to puzzle together the Executor’s backstory: it’s laid out far more clearly than that.
Where To Find The Journal
To begin with, you have to get acquainted with the Journal. It’s a big book found tothe left of the Lost Table of Grace. Like with any important place of interest at the Roundtable Hold, you may fast travel to it.
Inside the Journal, you can read the stories of every Nightfarer, even if you aren’t playing as them. This is also where you’ll begin Remembrances, which transport you into the past to relive key moments from their lives.
How To Unlock Memory Fragments
To progress through each character’s journal entries, you need to find Memory Fragments. These aren’t items in your inventory. Instead, they’re given to you automatically during Expeditions and are immediately used to advance through the Journal.
You can only getone Memory Fragment per run.
It’s never spelt out how you actually unlock them, butbeating Nightlords and completing Expeditions as the Nightfarer you want to progressseems a surefire way to do it. That being said, if this is your first Remembrance, just reaching the first boss at the end of the first night will work.
Sometimes, the Memory Fragment will unlock the next page in the journal, not a Remembrance.
Once you have enough Memory Fragments, you’ll see a new prompt in the Nightfarer of your choosing’s journal entry: ‘Begin Remembrance’. Once selected, you’ll be transported into their memories to progress through their individual story and unlock further pages.
Executor’s Remembrances
Executor has two Remembrances. As with any Nightfarer, not only will you glimpse more of his backstory, but you’ll also unlock a story-themed skin, unique Relics, and even a Chalice to use at the altar.
Remembrance #1
Executor’s first quest takes you back to Limveld, but don’t worry too much about beating the Nightlord. You only need to complete the objective.
If you quit an Expedition, progress towards a Remembrance won’t be saved.
While completing their quest, you can matchmake either with friends or random players, butnot with those who have different Remembrances active. In this case, the first objective is easy enough to do solo anyway.
You’ll be rewarded with Blessed Flowers, a Relic that gives you +3 to Dexterity and makes it so that you restore HP when “unlocking use of [the] cursed sword”,and the Executor’s Chalice. When equipped, it allows you to utilise three different Relics: blue, gold, and a tier of your choosing.
Remembrance #2
The next Remembrance will take you back to Limveld, before concluding the Executor’s story in the Lands Between. Be warned, as you will have to bravethe Shifting Earth Mountaintop event and two boss fights.
Once you’ve completed all of these steps, you will be rewarded with the Executor’s unique Remembrance skin, as well as theGolden Sprout Relic. When active, roaring and successful guarding will restore HP, and you’ll steadily restore HP for yourself and nearby allies when low on health.
How To Defeat The Executor’s Cry
If you’re having trouble with the Executor’s Cry boss fight, whichpits you against a mirror version of yourself, there are a couple of key things to keep in mind.
The boss will deflect your attacks, which will allow them to reveal their living sword and unleash a devastating blow. As such, you need to stay on the defensive.
Deflect his attacksand unleash the weapon art yourself. This will shred through his health and trivialise the fight.
How To Unlock Executor’s Ending
Once you’ve completed every Remembrance, if youdefeat the final boss, you’ll geta unique cutscene specific to your Nightfarer. Just verify that you complete the Expedition while playing as them.
