The Sims 4: Enchanted By Natureintroduces a new natural living skill. This is a ten-level skill which revolves around a Sim becoming better equipped to deal with being able to fulfill all their needs in the great outdoors.
The more a Sim uses the skill, the more efficiently they’ll be able to survive in nature. Leveling up will add a handful of new interactions and abilities as well as make basic skills more efficient. Here’s how your Sim can truly live off the grid.
What Is The Difference Between Natural Living And Off-The-Grid?
Off-the-grid and natural living actuallywork in conjunctionwith each other.Off-the-grid is a lot challenge,which means your lot is disconnected from utilities andunable toaccess power or water.
You’ll haveno utility bills, but you’ll beunable to use almost all electronicsand will also find thatplumbing options are heavily restricted.
Off-the-grid prevents the use of most lighting, except candles, most plumbing, minus a handful of basic options, and all computers, stereos, and TVs except for tablets.
Natural livingis a skill that sees Sims able tosurvive more efficiently without power and water.They are now able toforage for food, bathe in rivers, and sleep on the flooras well as on benches. As the skill is leveled, they can alsomore easily fulfill basic needsand learn newways to increase social and funneeds in nature.
How To Increase Natural Living Skill
You canincrease your natural living skillby doingany activitiesmarked by thesymbol of a Sim leaning against a tree. These are:
Sims can also read the threeNatural Living Skill books.Book one covers levels 1-3, book two can be read at levels 4-6 and book three goes from level 7-10.
Sims can alsoresearch natureon a computer by selectingMore Choices > Web > More Choices > Research > Research Natural Living.
Natural Living Skill Levels
Level One
Sims cansleep on the groundindoors or outdoors, but it will onlyreplenish energy very slowlyand will alsoreduce hygiene. They can alsobathe in any water shallow enough for wading. This includes ponds, rivers, and shorelines. Any Sim inEverdewcan also take asponge bath at the Fairy Hub,even if they aren’t a fairy.
Sims canforage on any grass, dirt or sand. Items will vary slightly based onskill level and area.Anyedible foodgained fromharvesting or foragingwill help Simsfulfill their hunger needsand gain asmall amount of fun.
High gardening skill appears to increase the chance of finding rarer plants, flowers, and herbs, while higher apothecary skill increases the chance of finding rare apothecary specific items. Higher natural living skill increases the chance of rarer items overall.
Level Two
Sims can nowsummon a privy bushanywhere outdoors where you can forage. This allows them toempty their bladder.At this level, it willreduce hygiene when used.
Sims can alsoeat any raw fish theyhave caught without a need to cook it first. If you have Simoleons, you can alsobuy raw fishfrom theCaptain’s Quarters in the Coast of Adhmor neighborhood.
Level Three
Sims can choose toforage for plantsat this level, and anyharvestable foodsthey eat willbetter replenish their hunger.
Whensleeping on the floor, they will also find that they replenish energy a little quicker, andlose hygiene a little slower.
Level Four
Sims using theprivy bush will lose less hygieneand stay cleaner at level four. They’ll also findbathing in natural water fun,although it can still beuncomfortable occasionally.
Napping on benches now replenishes more energythan before, so seek out the benches scattered across Innisgreen to take advantage.
Level Five
Your Sim can noweat any frogs they catch,should they be that way inclined. They can alsoforage for collectiblesto make some extra cash.
Bathing in naturenow leaves your Simfeeling cleaner, fasterandstops the negative moodletsassociated with it. Finally, the newTalk To Nature abilitylets your Simregenerate social needsby chatting with nature itself.
Level Six
Sims areconsidered conditioned to the elementsat this level. This means theyno longer feel temperature effectsfrom extreme heat or cold and cansleep or bathe in the rain or snow.Sleeping outdoors can even helprestore balanceat this level.
The temperature effects are linked to Seasons and can also be disabled in the game options menu.
Raw fish fills hunger fasterand more effectively, and thenegative debuffs from eating it are reduced.
Level Seven
Theprivy bush will no longer deplete your Sim’s hygieneat all, and they’ll findeating harvestable foodsthey foragedreplenishes fun as well as hunger.
The newMeditate In Natureskill, activated by clicking on the ground, alsogenerates fun.However, not that efficiently just yet. There are still a couple of levels of skill to go.
Level Eight
Sims are thriving now andall harvestable foods and raw fish will properly satisfy hungerneeds. Sims at this levelcan eat frogs, raw fish, and any edible fruit, vegetable or herbwhich has been harvested, or foraged for.
Level Nine
Frogs will now satisfy hungeras well, andtalking to nature fulfills social needsmuch faster.
To talk to nature, click on any plant in the area and select the Talk To Nature option from the menu.
Meditating in Nature will alsorestore your Sim’s balanceas well asincrease their fun.Sims will alsosleep through disturbances,regardless of where they sleep.
Level Ten
All needs are now efficiently met in nature.Bathing and sleeping also have a greater chance torestore balance.Anything harvestable alsosatisfies a large amount of hunger.
Any Sim at this maximum level will also have adramatically lowered chanceof beingscared of the dark, orscared of swimming.
Tips For Natural Living
There are afew things you can do that will make your life easierwhen leveling your Natural Living skill.
