Peakis a cooperative climbing game with high-altitude traversal and hidden survival mechanics. Each biome is dangerous, and once you enter the Tropic zone, one of the more insidious threats you’ll face is the tick. These parasites latch onto your legs and deal poison damage over time, even if you haven’t touched a plant or eaten anything strange. If you notice a slow poison effect and can’t figure out why, chances are it’s a tick.
While they’re relatively easy to deal with once spotted, catching ticks early can make all the difference between a clean climb and a frustrating one. Below, we’ll walk you through how to remove ticks and what to use them for afterward.
How To Remove A Tick
In Peak, you or a teammate might notice agrowing, black doton your leg, and you’ll seeongoing poison damage. This is a tick.
Removing a tick in multiplayer is pretty simple. If it is feeding, stand stilland have afriend approach and press Eto yank it off. Then use anantidote, amedkit(heals four ticks of poison) or acure-allto stop the poison.
If you’replaying solo, removing a tick ismore difficult. To check if you have one, look down, and you’ll see a tiny tick feeding on your leg. Unfortunately, youcan’t remove it until the tick has swollen large enough to grab. Once it is, bend down andpress E to get rid of it.
If a teammate’s stamina drops inexplicably, check their legs just in case!
Peeling off a tickstops the ongoing poison, but remember itwon’t reverse damage already taken. You’ll still need to use a consumable tocure or heal yourself.
After removal, you canpick up the tickas an item. You can eat it for atiny hunger refillor stash it for later. Oddly enough, eating a tickprogresses theForaging Badge achievement, which asks you to eat five distinct berries in a single climbing expedition.
