At the start of your journey in the Shivering Isles expansion forThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the Gatekeeper stood in your way at the Gate of Madness. You had to defeat this powerful creature to obtain the keys and gain an audience with Lord Sheogorath himself.

Now, after progressing through the story and witnessing the growing threat of the Order, you find yourself in a strange twist of fate. You’re tasked with building a new Gatekeeper to defend the Isles from the very threat you were once seen as part of. It’s ironic how quickly roles can shift in this chaotic realm.

How To Start Rebuilding The Gatekeeper Quest

After you complete the Retaking The Fringe main questof the Shivering Isles and report to Sheogorath, your next task will be torebuild the Gatekeeperthat you once defeated to assist with the invasion of Order.

This will start the quest, andyou will need to find all its parts. You will be sent toXaselm, which is locatednear the Fringe.

How To Rebuild The Gatekeeper

Make your way to Xaselm and progress forward to the fort, following the objective marker until youreach the Sanctum of Vivisection. There, you willfind Relmyna Verenim.

After speaking to her,she will agree to build a new Gatekeeper,but only if you gather the necessary materials froma place called the Gardens of Flesh and Bone. She will give you the key to access it.

The materials you need are: Osseous Marrow, Dermis Membrane, Essence of Breath, and Blood Liqueur.

The Gardens of Flesh and Bone is locatedjust north of the Fringe, so make your way there. Once inside, the cave is massive and filled with enemies, so be prepared. Here is where you can find all the ingredients:

Once you have all the items, head back to Xaselm and deliver the components to Relmyna Verenim. She will ask you tochoose the body parts of the Gatekeeper that you want to build.

The body parts you select will determine the greater powers available for your use after you complete rebuilding the Gatekeeper.

Additionally, the parts you choose will affect how your Gatekeeper looks and the specific powers it will possess.

If you pick an item by mistake, you can easily select another one from the same category, and it will replace the one you already have.

After choosing the body part,speak to Relmyna one more timeto proceed with the ceremony to rebuild the Gatekeeper.Make your way to the statue of Sheogorath at the Fringe,the same place where you defeated the original Gatekeeper, and you will find Relmyna waiting for you.

Here, the ceremony will begin. You will need toplace the items you’ve collected when Relmynatells you to and recite the incantation for it. Once everything is done, the Gatekeeper will emerge. Speak to Relmyna again, andshe will reward you with the Summon Flesh Atronach spell.

With this completed, head back to Sheogorath at his place andreport your progress to him. This will advance the main story to the next quest.
