Along with the main story inDeltarune, there are several hidden story paths to follow that will unlock optional mini-games, boss battles, and gear for your characters. You will likely miss many of these unless you happen to stumble upon it, or you know what to look for.

One of these optional items is the Ice Key, which can later lead you to an optional boss fight with the Shadow Mantle Holder. In this guide we’ll go over what you need to do to find the Ice Key.

Entering The S-rank Room In The Green Room In Deltarune.

How To Get The Ice Key

Finding the Ice Key will firstrequire you to obtain S-Rankin the first roundof the TV Time game. Once you have that, and you’re sent to the Green Room,you can enter through the S-Rank door.

Once inside, go to the left andspeak to the NPCstanding in front of a set of brown double doors. This NPC will tell you that there are more games to play, and behind these doors is theoriginal version of the gameyou played with Tenna in round one.

Talking To An NPC In The S-Rank Room In Deltarune.

In this room you’ll first see a room full of game consoles. Go to the left to findan abandoned console. When you first interact with it, it’ll shut off when it doesn’t detect a controller.

Go back into the previous room and on the flooryou’ll find a controller. Pick it up and the itemOddController will be added to your inventory. Now, return to the abandoned console and Kris will plug in the controller when prompted.

Finding The Odd Controller On The Ground In Deltarune.

The game will start, and you’ll find thatthe layout is very similar to what you played previouslywith Tenna and the others. Except there are some weird monsters floating around,no Lancer, no Pippins, and no quizzes.

None of the monsters will hurt you until you have your sword, so if you want to just explore the map a little bit first, this is a good time to do it.

Starting The Original Game In Deltarune.

When you’re ready, head to thebottom left of the map to find the cave entrancethat Tenna told you was the fan mail room. In this cavethere is a sword. Pick it up, and head back outside.

Now you can defeat the monsters that you’ve seen floating around,but they can also damage you, so be careful. Every monster you defeatwill give your sword more experience.

Cutting Down The Cacti Blocking The Path In Delatrune.

Sometimes monsterswill drop food when defeated, which will give you some health when you walk over it. But don’t wait too long, as the health item will fade.

Once your sword reaches level three,you’ll be able to cut down cacti. Head to the east side of the map where a pathway is blocked by two cacti.

The Snowy Area Of The Game In Delatrune.

You might recognize this from the game you played with Susie and Ralsei, when Susie told you it would be nice tohave something to cut through the cacti. Well, now you do.

Once you’ve cleared the cacti, the path will lead you to asnowy area of the game you’ve never seen before. Continue through the rooms, defeating each monster you come across,until your sword is at max level. Now you can also cut down thepalm trees.

Before you go searching for the ice key, you can use yournew-found power to reveal hidden cave entrancesthat you wouldn’t have otherwise found. Some of these cave entrances even havesecret messagesfor you.

Now, head back to the desert andstart plowing down the palm trees to the south. Eventually you’ll find ared chest surrounded by palm trees. Cut down the palm trees around the chest so you can open it andget the Ice Key.

Once you find the area with the red chest, the gamewon’t let you leave the screen, so verify you’ve done everything you want to do first.
