Peakis a multiplayer survival game unlike many others. You’re not trying to build a base to survive in a hostile world, you’re simply a scout trying to get to the highest ground possible to hopefully be rescued from the savage island you’ve just crash-landed on.
While this game was designed with multiplayer in mind, it is possible to play solo if that’s what you desire. Maybe none of your friends have the game, or you just prefer playing solo. It doesn’t matter. Let’s discuss how to play solo, and we’ll offer a few tips and tricks for you to survive as long as possible.
If you manage to beat the game and get rescued while solo, you’ll get the Lone Wolf Badgeto add to your collection of achievements.
How To Play Solo
There are actuallytwo ways you’re able to play Peak solo. You can either host an online session, and just not invite anyone to play with you. This could be good if, perhaps, a friend is going to join you later, but you want togo ahead and get things started. You can invite them from within the game without restarting.
The other way to play solo is tochoose the Play Offline option. You’ll find it on the main menu below Host Game. It shows one climber icon instead of multiple. This is, of course, the designated solo mode if you don’t ever plan on inviting a friend to join you.
Tips For Playing Solo
Many of ourbeginner tips for Peak carry over to playing solo, like making sure you’recarrying extra foodandnot overpacking your backpack.
But when you’re playing solo, youcan’t rely on your friends to help youup the mountain or to revive you when you die. So, when playing by yourself, you need to be extra vigilant. One misstep or misjudged jump means you have tostart all over from the beginning.
Climbing down takes far less staminathan climbing up, so if you run out of ways to go up, it’s okay to go down to reassess where you need to go.
Be aware of the rising fog. If you go down too low, or you’re ascending too slowly and the fog reaches you, you’ll start to freeze. Try tocarry at least one of the spicy fruitsfrom the Tropics to help combat the cold.
When playing solo, rope or chain launchers and pitonswill be your best friend.
Since you don’t have any friends to put down ropes for you, the launchers will help youget up while using less stamina. Additionally, pitons give you the chance torest and refill your staminawithout falling or losing your climbing progress.
Keep in mind, though, that equipment such as ropes or pitons can be heavy, which means you’ll have less stamina. Make sure you eat as muchenergy-giving food or drinksas you can find to keep your energy up to compensate.
