Marvel Rivalsis a team-based hero shooter from NetEase that pits teams of iconic superheroes and villains against each other in tense 6v6 matches. Ultron was added to the game halfway through its second season as a Strategist, a role designed to support other characters with health and shields.
Strategists aren’t everyone’s favorite role, but Ultron brings some new ideas and mechanics to the table that make him feel distinct from other characters. If you want to learn to play as the robotic antagonist, this guide will teach you everything you need to know about him.
Ultron Overview
Ultron is alower-difficulty Strategistwho uses drones toprotect his allies and heal them over time. He also uses his Encephalo-Ray to attack his enemies from a distance.
Ultron is aflying character, so you’ll need to focus on navigating this Hero through the air while protecting him from incoming damage.
Imperative: Patch is Ultron’smain ability for healing himself and his allies. Using this move on a teammate assigns a drone to them that heals that character and any other ally within a certain radius. It heals the main target quicker than those around them, so make sure you’reusing it on the person you want to recover the fastest.
The dronedoesn’t expire after a time limit and can’t be destroyed by enemies. It will stay attached to a Hero until they are knocked out or if you decide to assign it to someone else.
Ultron can also use his drones toprovide bonus healthfor himself, the Hero with the Imperative: Patch drone, and anyone close to either character with Imperative: Firewall. This ability isperfect for tight situationswhen your team needs a little boost to help them outlast your enemies.
He mightnot be the quickest Strategist on the roster, but the Dynamic Flight ability helps Ultron get back to his teammates byincreasing his movement speed for eight seconds. It can also help him get away from dangerous situations like being outnumbered or cornered by a dangerous foe like Wolverine.
Ultron is areliable Strategist who can significantly support his teamwith a range of attacks that have generous cooldown times. Not only is Ultron great at providing health for everyone, but he is pretty strong too, and cantake out Duelistsand other Strategists easily if they end up in his line of fire. Here is a detailed look at all of Ultron’s moves to help you get a better understanding of his capabilities.

When on the same team as Iron Man, Ultron can enhance his Encephalo-Ray into a Nano Ray with the press of a button. This attackpierces through everything in its path, damaging any enemies and healing any teammatesthat are hit by it.
Ultron currently does not have any passive abilities, so what you see is what you get.
Tips And Tricks To Play Ultron
One of the first things you’ll need to master with Ultron is hisability to fly. He’s currently the only Strategist who remains airborne during battles, so if you like the role and want to play as him, this will be your first step towards success.
In general, try tostay close to buildings, pillars, or any other structure that can provide you with some protection. Vanguards might have a hard time saving you when you’re hovering above them, so using the environment and Imperative: Firewall can effectively keep Ultron alive for most of the match.
Ultron is one of theslowest Strategists in Marvel Rivals, especially compared to mobile characters like Luna Snow and Rocket Raccoon. In most situations, you should use Dynamic Flight immediately after respawning to help Ultron get back to his teammates as quickly as possible. While Ultron can attack, hethrives in a support roleand can keep his team alive for long periods of time with his unique skills.
It’s best touse Imperative: Patch in areas where most of your team is likely to gather, like beside a convoy or the control point in a domination match. Alternatively, you can attach a drone to anambitious Duelist like Iron-Fist or Spider-Manto ensure they have some extra protection as they attack the opposing team’s backline.
You should have a similar mindset when usingImperative: Firewall. With only a 10-second cooldown, you could keep spamming this ability whenever it recharges, butbe mindful not to overuse itso you’re not out of luck when the enemy team starts using all their ultimate abilities at once.
If you’re feeling good about your team’s status, Ultron can join the fray with his Encephalo-Ray to deplete enemy health bars. Hewon’t do well in most one-on-one encounters, but you can use this attack to safely damage enemies from a distance before they know what hit them.
The attack does decent enough damage to take out most Duelists and Strategists, but it might be a waste of time using it on tough Vanguards like The Thing or Hulk. If you can keep the beam locked on your opponent, you should be able to wipe them out before they have a chance to retaliate.
The reload time for Ultron’s Encephalo-Ray is pretty slow and leaves him extremely vulnerable. This is where you should be using the environment for cover to keep the Hero safe.
Tips To Use Ultron’s Ultimate
Ultron’s ultimate ability — Rage of Ultron — is a powerful move that can change the tide in your favor during tense confrontations between both teams. While the move bothdamages enemies and heals allies, you never want to use it for one of the reasons exclusively. You should always try to use this attackwhen both teams are in the same area, like on a domination point or close to a convoy.
If you use Rage of Ultron during a heated battle, you may simultaneously heal your team while attacking opposing characters, which should give your side a massive advantage. Similar to Ultron’s Encephalo-Ray, though, this Hero is very vulnerable when using his ultimateand can be taken down quickly if not positioned correctly or if you don’t have anyone to help defend you.
You can quickly charge the meter for Rage of Ultron by consistently healing allies and damaging enemies. I’ve been able to use it multiple times in most standard matches.
When your ultimate is ready, but you don’t feel comfortable using it where you are, it’s best to use Dynamic Flight to get to a safe zone to ensure you aren’t knocked out as soon as you use it. Rage of Ultron is aneffective skill that can make or break the outcome of the match, and there is nothing worse than being shot down before you have a chance to properly use it.
