AlthoughHunter x Hunter: Nen x Impactdoesn’t have the biggest roster compared to other anime fighting games, each of its 16 characters is rather unique from one another and has their own bag of tricks to get used to.

Unless you’ve already got a favourite Hunter on the roster, there’s a good chance that you’re going to start the game by playing as Gon. Gon is a great all-rounder character who excels in most areas, making him the perfect first character to run through.

Gon Overview

As you’d expect from the main character of the series,Gon is a great all-rounder character who excels in a variety of areas. He’s fast-paced thanks to his small stature, has amazing combo potential due to his wide range of special attacks, and hits fairly hard using certain techniques.

One of Gon’s main strengths is his Art attack, Jajanken Stance. Holding down the Art button will see Gon charge up his signature move, which can then be changed depending on the input. Gon can either throw a powerful punch, use a blade to strike upward, or even shoot out a projectile, making it an incredible mix-up attack that will keep opponents guessing.

The only weakness thatGon has is that his normal attacks don’t do that much damagecompared to some of the heavier characters on the roster. This can be made up for by his massive combo potential, particularly with hisFishing Pole special that can be used to drag an opponent to you with ease.

Overall, Gon is a fantastic first pick for your team in Nen x Impact, as even his small flaws don’t really stop him from being one of the game’s best characters. He’s simple to learn but has a ton of complexity once you’ve gotten used to his moves.

Gon Combos

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has some of the easiest combos to pull off I’ve seen in a fighting game recently. It’s not hard to dive into a character’s moveset and pull out a few simple combos, so more than anything, I’d encourage you to give that a try. If you want some starting combos, here are a few that worked for me!

When it comes to using Gon,his basic attacks are so fast-paced that they set up most combos perfectly. Then it’s about finding which use of Jajanken Stance works best to keep it flowing. Remember that the Fishing Pole is there to help you reach an enemy if you send them flying away.

Combos For Gon

Nen x Impact’s auto combos are also incredibly safe to use and powerful. If none of the ones above work for you, it might be worth seeing what they can do and taking those lessons into your own combos.

Gon Tips And Tricks

One of the key things that makes Gon such a great character is his signature Jajanken Stance Art. Not only does it give you plenty of mixup options depending on what attack you combine it with, but it’s also got armour against some attacks. It’s not much, but it does mean that Gon can tank a hit to deal a more powerful attack. Just verify they’re not setting up a combo that would mean multiple hits.

Jajanken Stance isn’t just good on the ground, though, as there’s also anairborne version that lets Gon use a downward aiming version of his usual moves. They’re obviously a bit simpler since there are only three variations, but they’re a great option for when you’re airborne, either when you’re knocked up or by your own choice.

Anotherkey move in Gon’s arsenal that makes him stand out from the rest of the cast is his Fishing Pole. This simple-to-use move throws out a line and pulls the enemy towards you. While it has a habit of overshooting and leaving your enemy a little further away from you,it’s still great for setting up most combos, continuing them, or just confusing your opponentand making them slip up.

Gon’s anti-air options aren’t bad either, as he has a sweeping kick when using Nen in the air, and his Jajenken Scissors are great for catching anyone coming towards you. Both require some setup, though, so be careful.

Outside of his Arts and special moves,Gon’s basic attacks are all really solid. One of the ones that stand out the most are his neutral Medium, down Light, and down Medium, which are all great for poking and setting up combos.Gon’s neutral Heavy and side Heavy are also great choices, as he can either throw out a barrage of punches to extend a combo or fly towards the opponent.
