The premise ofDate Everythingis pretty clear. Each and every object in your home is open to some romantic affection, but it doesn’t end there, either. The elements around you are just as happy to be embraced, as are your deepest nightmares and feelings of dread. There’s a lot to consider. But not a single human.
Well, accept for one. Kind of. If a ghost still counts as human. But aside from the whole ghost thing, Zoey really is just a human. No further disclaimers. So if you’re looking for something a bit more on the human, albeit ethereal, side of things, then Zoey is just the girl for you. You just need to bind her to this world first.
How To Meet Zoey
Initial Meeting
Zoey works a bit differently from every other Dateable in the game. Genuinely, every single one of them. That’s probably fair considering they are conceptually quite different too, being a human ghost. Unlike every other Dateable who you can just find and interact with them using the Dateviators,Zoey can only be met in a very specific way and place.
First off,you need access to the attic. This is done by entering the crawlspace beneath the boiler room, and picking up Keith, the skeleton key. With him literally in hand, you can enter the attic and meet all the Dateables there. All of them, such as Parker and Sophia, can be talked with right away. Not Zoey though.
You will be naturallybrought to the crawlspace if you’ve been following Beau’s storyso far.
Not being a strict object in your home,Zoey only appears in the dead of night. After your Dateviators have already run out of charges. While in every other circumstance you would just head to bed now, this is the only moment in the day when Zoey appears. Head back to the attic and you will be a glowing orb hanging back near the large pile of boxes. This is Zoey.
With the Dateviators out of charges,all you have to do is click on her, regardless of whether or not you’re actually wearing the Dateviators, and you can strike up a conversation with her.
Subsequent Meetings
After this first meeting,you have to meet Zoey in the same way until you have finally finished her story. And this might take quite a while. However, you will still never have to use a Dateviator charge since you can only meet her after midnight.
Once her story is complete, she will remain in the attic, but can be spoken to any time of day.
How To Perform The Seance
After speaking with Zoey enough, she will start to remember some of her past of when she was still alive. This triggers a long series of events that, ultimately, results in her being brought back to this world. As a ghost still, but at least in a way that everyone else can finally see and interact with her, too.And that all starts with a necklace.
Finding Zoe’s Necklace
The first of Zoe’s memories she recalls involves her necklace. Not even what it meant to her, but just that it exists, and what it looks like. And if she can remember it over everything else, then it must have been important to her.So she asks you to findit, if that’s even possible, and return it to her.
Zoey, as you might have picked up from the looks and her own dialogue is from the 1980s, a real blast from the past. And there just so happens to be one specific character who is also representative of the 80s -Bodhi Windbreaker. You should have encountered him already in the crawlspace when you were searching for Keith, the skeleton key.
If you met Bodhi by time Zoey mentions this to you,you can talk to her about him.
He moves to the sofa in the Living Room after talking to him for the first time. Speak with him here and he’ll tell you all about the 80s, and even give you a memento of that period. He is a time capsule, after all. And what he gives you is a wonderful necklace. Just the one Zoey was looking for.
After getting this, return to Zoey at midnight to return it to her. She is glad to see it, but her feelings only well up more and more from now on. Sometimes,she will even direct these outbursts at you, and disappear for a day so you can’t interact with her. The necklace awoke more memories and emotions in her, including those of her untimely death. It’s only fair she feels overwhelmed. Just give her some time.
Recruiting The Members
After a few more conversations, Zoey will come to a new conclusion. She was helping the name who led to her death in bringing back his loved ones. While that failed, Zoey is a literal ghost now. She is the soul that wants to come back.So what’s stopping the seance from working now?While there’s no guarantee of success, she feels its worth taking the chance.
To that end, you need others to help complete the seance. But it can’t be just anyone. Regular objects don’t work, it has to be something more abstract yet tangible in its feelings. A concept, even.The gap between object and idea. And thankfully, there are quite a few characters who meet those criteria.
In total,you need to recruit three charactersfor this. These are:
you may talk to Zoey at night to check if you have enough Dateablesfor the seance yet. You can’t perform it without enough.
Thankfully,you don’t actually have to approach each of these Dateables to recruit themfor the seance. As long as you’ve met them just the once, they are automatically available for the seance. No wasting a whole day just asking people can they please perform a seance.
Performing The Seance
With Willi, Nightmare, and Reggie all ready for the seance, return to Zoey to get the ball rolling.All the recruited characters will appear on-screen to start performing the seance, focusing all their thoughts on Zoey. Even though none of them can actually see her.
Everyone else in the attic will start to chime in too, since they can’t see Zoey either. Parker will talk about money, Sophia and Monique will wonder what’s even happening, and so on. But the seance will be a success. And right at the very end, Zoey will give you a choice -should she bind herself to this world so she can have friends, or allow her spirit to pass on entirely?
Make sure to bring her into this world.She wants friends, and it’s better to give her that.
How To Change Your Relationship Status With Zoey
Despite everything else about Zoey being a bit different,she does still have the three endingslike all other Dateables. Here’s how to get them.
Love
To get Zoey to love you,you have to respect her. Show interest in her past, don’t push her too far. Let her take her time, but try to help her fnid her peace.
Friends
If you meet the requirements for a love ending, you can choose to take a friends ending instead. Otherwise,you just have to be a bit shorter with her. Don’t take interest in her past, speed to the end of everything with her. Still be caring, just less so.
Hate
With Zoey, getting a hate ending is a bit harder. While you’re able to be rude with her along the way, you will still end up performing the seance with her. It is once it is completed thatshe will accept that though you helped her, you’re just not a very nice person. And so she will hate you.
