A big part ofRune Factory: Guardians of Azumais exploring the world around you. This is not only important because you need to reach certain places to progress the story, but it’s important that you go wherever you’re needed, whether that’s to complete side quests or clean up the blight that’s affecting the region.

As you progress through the game, you’ll notice that there are a few features that are inaccessible to you when you first encounter them. From gaps that are wider than you can jump and updrafts that seem useless at first, the clever amongst you will clock that there’s a gliding ability to unlock.

When Gliding Is Unlocked

As with many other abilities and upgrades in this game, gliding is a movement ability tied to one of theSacred Treasuresyou’ll pick up. Specifically, it’s unlocked when you gain theSacred Parasol, which is obtained once youreach Winter Village and start completing the story queststhere.

Once you’re prompted to sleep in the local Dragon Temple after talking to everyone here, you’ll experience a dream in which the Parasol is gifted to you. While you cannot upgrade this Treasure’s abilities on the battlefield just yet, this is all you need to unlock gliding.

How To Glide

When you have the Parasol equipped, jumping will prompt your character to openit, dramatically slowing your descent. This works likegliding abilitiesin many other games, but it is notably a totally automatic function as long as you have the Parasol equipped - you don’t have to press any extra buttons after jumping.

Gliding into updrafts, which are denoted bywhite lines rising from the groundinto the sky, will cause you to ride the updrafts up to where they stop. This allows you to reach new areas.

Youcannot equip the Parasol while in midairto begin a glide - you must have it equipped before jumping to benefit from the glide.
