Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalondoesn’t seem like the kind of game with a lot of hidden content at first. It feels pretty direct, with most things clearly laid out. But if you explore more, you’ll start noticing things that aren’t part of the main path.
There are optional areas, side characters, and quests you may completely miss if you don’t look around. Some NPCs only show up in certain places, and a few storylines only appear if you take the time to explore. One example is the Alchemist Guild, which you can join, but only after meeting specific conditions that the game doesn’t explain up front.
How To Start The Whispers In The Dark Quest
In order to beginthe Whispers In The Dark quest, you will need to finda secret character called Taranis in a cave, so make your way to the very north of the Horns of the South and you should find a path marked by numerous stone statues along the way.
If youfollow this path, you will reach a large door that leads to theMistbearer’s Den. Go inside and just in front of you,you will be able to see Taranis.
When you attempt to approach him, he will speak to you and warn you that no one has been able to block the path in front of him to proceed through the cave, but obviously, you are not just anyone.
You can tell him that you will be able to open the path andjoin the collaboration he mentions,and doing so will begin the quest.
How To Defeat Mistbearer
Just near Taranis, you will be able to seea panel that you’re able to interact with, and it will reveal the path forward to dive deep inside Mistbearer’s Den.
When you do, justprogress forward to the end of the caveand follow the path until you reach what looks likea strange altar at the bottom of a large tree.
Approach it and interact with it, and you will be transported to a round arena where you will be fighting a boss called Mistbearer.
As the name suggests, the Mistbearer willconstantly be producing mist around the arena,so it’s best to stay out of it.
He will besummoning illusions of himself and some minionsthat will help him during the fight, soyour first priority should be to get rid of theseand deal some damage to him.
Fire seems to work very well, so if you have a spell for it, you can use it to build up the burn status effect so it will continuously take damage.
In addition to that, if you happen to have a spell that summons minion allies, then you should definitely use it in this fight as it can help distract the other illusions and minions while you focus on the boss fight.
You can also use the rocks around the arena as cover if you need to heal or regenerate stamina.
How To Complete The Whispers In The Dark Quest
After you manage to defeat the Mistbearer,a portal door will spawnand you’re able to use it to go back to the real world. From here, justmake your way back to Taranis and speak to him.
Inform him that you killed the Mistbearer and show him his remains as proof. He will be glad and reward you for your effort, and nowyou will be officially a part of the Alchemist Guild.
