Power is a dangerous thing inTainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, and no one knows that better than the people trapped within the Abyss of King Sagremor. However, there’s no easy way to get the illustrious Queen Sagremor to relinquish her power over the realm. The only thing you can do is strike her down, which is easier said than done.

Thankfully, we can help you prepare to face the royals in their throne room. With a bit of skill and a little luck, you can free the abyss from the long-lasting curse that keeps everyone alive against their will.

How To Reach King And Queen Sagremor

In order toreach the King and Queen of the Abyss of Sagremor, you’ll need to gain an audience during theThrone Of The Depths quest. To do this, you’ll need tohelp both of the queen’s sistersin the following quests:

Once you complete these quests, the Custodian will appear and give you the keyto the throne room and chapel. Head through the doors at the far end of the hall behind the statue of the All-Mother to reach the chapel.

There, you’ll finda figure with a mushroomfor a head. It asks toshow you something, and you should agree. The creature reveals the Mycelium to you, a fungal creature that takes control over its host. It asks you totake a piece of itself and infect the kingwith it when you find him.

This is your only opportunity to agree to this, so make sure you take a piece. You can think about your decision later.

After collecting the piece of the Mycelium, open the doors at the back of the chapeland take the lift down to the throne room. It’s barred off, and this is your last chance tosave and preparebefore engaging in combat with Queen Sagremor.

How To Defeat Queen Sagremor

When you enter the throne room, a cutscene willreveal the undead litch, Queen Sagremor.Rotted by time and corruption, she challenges you with aglowing red spectral sword. She swoops over to you andattempts to cleave you in two. Don’t let her.

As the queenzips across the throne room in midair, use the pillars to block her attacks and buy yourself time to get into position. Ranged attacks withthrowing knives are a good ideaif you have trouble getting close.

Be sure to evade her sweeping attack, as it’s quite powerful.

Aside from her powerful sword skills, she alsouses magic to grow spectral spikes of icethat freeze you to the floor. With your movement impaired, you can onlyblock and use Lifesteal magicto heal yourself from the incoming attacks.

Once the undead queen is gone, pick up her Spectral Sword, then loot her body once the throne room is restored. Her gear is agreat addition to any mage’s wardrobe.

Should You Infect King Sagremor With The Mycelium Or Leave Him To Die?

Part of dealing with the queen isdeciding the fate of the king. With the queen truly dead, speak with King Sagremor on the throne. The world within the Abyss will collapse, and all those within will die. Before that can happen though,King Sagremor will give you his half of the Cracked Menhir Rites Tablet.

You have a choice to make now. Before leaving, you’re able to opt tolet the Mycelium take over the king’s body. To do this, tell himthe Fungal Envoy will give the abyss new life.

This is the only chance you have, so make sure to take it!

Letting the Mycelium take overprovides a mercy kill to all those trapped withinthe Abyss of Sagremor. When you speak to anyone inside, you’llhear the Mycelium’s voicethrough their bodies. This is the best way to make use of such a dungeon without it collapsing.

However, this makes everyone in the Abyss invulnerable. You cannot kill them, and therefore you cannot collect loot from the king or the sisters. All of them have unique enchanted items that you may find useful.

When in doubt, save before making the choiceand infect the king toget The Sporeborn King trophy/achievement.you may thenreload and let the king diejust to collect the loot before heading back to Cuanacht.

The king is weakened and sitting on his throne, so take him out, then return to the chambers where the sisters hide to take their gear as well.

While you’re at it, take Renaud out, too. Put the royal family to rest after centuries of torment.
