Neon Abyss 2 is currently in Early Access on Steam, so the information below may be updated or changed in the future.

Vaporize Any Weapon You Won’t Use

In certain rooms, such as theChallenge Room and in the Shop, you areguaranteed to get access to a Weapon, but since every run is different, youaren’t always going to get something you likeor want to use.

Any Weapon can bevaporized by holding the Interact keywhile next to it, and this is what you’llwant to do to any weapon you dislike or won’t use. Vaporization causes a Weapon toturn into a ton of Soul Shardsand theseSoul Shards level up your Weapon.

If youswap your Weapon for another, all Badges and Artifacts you’ve acquired will automatically be transferred to the new Weapon and you won’t lose out on their effects.

Each rank allows you to pick either a Badgefor it, which causes yourattacks to spawn different effects, like a damage-dealing spinning blade, or anArtifact that can provide different benefits and bonusesto your character.

Badge attacks can put out a great amount of DPSand help clear rooms quickly, and you canhave multiple at one time, so themore you Vaporizeand then level your Weapons, themore bonus attacks and effects you can get.

Spend Crystals Wisely

Crystals areone of your main resources, and they’re used for several things, such asopening the door to the Shop, openingdoors to special rooms, openingCrystal Chests, or toactivate certain Curioslike the Laser Goggles.

Like Keys and Bombs, they’re alsogenerally going to be in short supplyunless you have anitem that boosts their drop rate, or you get lucky, so you’ll need tochoose what you spend them on, depending on what you’ve found.

If you’vereached the Crystal limit, you’re able to leave any excess on the ground and come back for them later as long as you don’t defeat the level’s boss and move forward, or have the X Misfortune.

Make sure you’veexplored most of the floorand scouted out whether there’s aShop, anyCrystal Chests, or anything else that costs Crystals, then make your decision.

Shops overall will give you the best value, since theyhave at least three items, which can be further increased via the Evolution Skill Tree, andalmost everything you get will be useful.

Check What Your Agent’s Focused On

With all the things happening, it’s alsoeasy to end upwithmultiple items and interactable objectsin one spot, or havetwo different interactables close together, like aTemple of Consumerism stand beside a chestand dropped items after clearing a room.

Make sure you’reinteracting with the right thingif there aremultiple interactables stacked together, as there’sno prompt for confirming an interactionwith a door or NPC, and it’s easy toaccidentally spend Keys opening a door instead of the chestright next to it.

Be careful in the Shop, especially, as the three items are always right next to each other, and it’s possible to buy multiple at once by accident, depending on where you’re standing.

This can meanyou’ll waste valuable items by accidentor accidentally spend Health or Coins on something you didn’t want towhile trying to pick up an item, and it can especially hurt if youdidn’t need that interactable, door, or NPC’s services.

Avoid Attacking Chests Unless You Want To Pay In Blood

Normally,Chests come in several varieties: regular Chests, Key Chests, Crystal Chests, and Stone Chests. Each oneneeds a specific currency or resource to open, except for the regular Chest, but it’spossible to change Crystal Chests to another variant: the Heart Chest.

Heart Chests are another special chest, and thecurrency for opening them is a Heartinstead of several Crystals. Opening it willalways do one Heart of damage, though itdoesn’t permanently take away a Heart Canister, so you canheal yourself after opening onewith leftover Hearts.

If youwant an item, turning the Crystal Chests into Heart Chests can be beneficial, especially if you have leftover Hearts on the floor, a way to replenish them, get shields, or don’t mind the risk.

These chests appear when a Crystal Chest, takes damagefromany attack that isn’t a Hatchmon’s. For example, you canconvert the chest by attacking it with your weaponor blowing it up with a bomb.

Ifdone by accident, you’ll have to eitherleave it behindorspend valuable Hearts to openup a Chest that you could’ve otherwise opened with Crystals, and this can be adeath sentence if you’re already at low healthand need the chance of a good reward.

Spend Evolution Points As Soon As Possible

If you’vemade significant progress then diedin a dungeon run, you’llgain EXPand when youlevel up, you’ll begranted an Evolution Point.

These points can be spent at the Evolve menu next to the bar, and every time youget at least a single point, you’ll want to go ahead andspend them to buy new perks.

Theperks you get unlock a variety of bonuses, such aspermanent upgrades, making new objects start spawning in the dungeon, unlocking new Faiths, unlocking theFate Card system, or letting youdismantle Curios into Crystals.

Each perk in a treeonly needs one Evolution Point to unlock, and theyneed to be unlocked in order, so there’sno downside to spending them as soon as possible, and what they unlock willhelp you progressto the dungeon’s lower floors.

Avoid Explosives In The Shop

The Shop is akey room that appears on most floors, and it alwayscosts three Crystals to enter. Inside, you’ll find a selection of three items: one weapon, one Heart or Shield, and one Artifact, along with one of several random shopkeepers.

Ensure youdon’t accidentally end up hurting the Shopkeeperwith a damaging item, such as aregular grenadeor theBouncy Bombs from a Jack-in-the-Box.

You canincrease the number of items offered in the Shop by purchasing the VIP Card perks in the Evolution Perk Treeat the hub.

TheShopkeeper can be damaged by them, and if they are, that shop will close, and theitems in the shop will disappear from that floor, and youwon’t be able to buy anything else, even if you still have coins left.

Save A Few Items For After The Boss

Unless you’ve got theNatural Decay Misfortune activethat makesitems left on the ground disappear after a minute, or a similar effect, items left behind in rooms will stayuntil you leave the floor.

This meansany excess Hearts, Shields, or Crystalsleft in completed rooms willstay there the entire floor, and it’s a huge help toleave some behind for after the boss or the challenge room, so you canrefill your health.

You cancheck the full-scale map at a Teleporter to see what rooms you’ve left items in and what items are in the room based on the symbolon the map.

The healing can beespecially crucialto ensuring you’regoing into the more difficult later floors with high health,as starting at floor four, enemies start doing more than a Heart’s worth of damage.

Take Advantage Of No Contact Damage

Unless you’ve picked the Sensitive Skin Misfortuneat the beginning of the game, orit’s a particular enemy, like the round robots that generate a damage field around them that show up on Floor Six and beyond, themajority of the enemiesyou go up againstdon’t do any contact damage.

If you’re ever in a moment where youaren’t able to avoid somethingby jumping or gettingblocked on all sides by enemies, you can runstraight through them.

As long as they aren’t a melee enemy or have already attacked, you cangenerally avoid taking damagefrom incoming bullets or projectiles and save yourself the loss of a Heart.

Or, ina case where damage is inevitable, you can try torun through the enemy that does the least damage, andtrigger the I-Framesfor a moment of invulnerability.
