The life of a college athlete is busy to put it mildly, and that’s represented very well in the Road To Glory game mode inCollege Football 26. You’re going to need to control many different aspects of your character’s weekly agenda, and that’s going to shape the kind of player they turn into.
Part of what you’re going to need to decide is how hard you’re going to push your player toward gaining skill points. These skill points upgrade your player significantly, and there are a few different ways to earn them. But, pursuing them at all cost is going to prove disastrous.
How To Start With More Skill Points
When creating your character, you’ll get to select how many stars you’ll have as a Recruit.Selecting a player with more stars is going to start you with a higher overall rating, and more skill pointsto distribute as you see fit from the start.
But, the more stars your player has, the greater the expectations are going to be on their performance.
How To Earn Skill Points In Your Weekly Agenda
You’re going to have a weekly agenda for your player, giving you a certain amount of time that you can distribute as you see fit through different categories. These categories grant you different things, one of which is XP.
Selecting the Training section in your Weekly Agenda will reward your player with XP and skill points, but it’s also going to cause them more wear and tear.
Extra wear and tear is going to temporarily lower some of their ratings, as well as increase their risk of injury.
Don’t Overdo Your Training
You can select Training every week, butselecting it more than once might prove costly. You’re going to be risking injury to your player, you won’t be playing to your fullest, and you’ll be foregoing every other aspect of your players' life. For example, if your GPA falls below 2.0, your player may not be allowed to continue playing.
Spread your hours over multiple different sections every week. Feel free to focus on training to upgrade your player as fast as you may, but do it in a sustainable way.
How To Earn Skill Points In Practice
Every week, your player will practice a drill of your choosing. There will be multiple drills that you get to choose from, andyour performance in this drill is going to determine how much XP your player gains,as well as how much thecoach’s confidencein you improves.
Choose Drills You Know You Can Do Well In
It’s a good idea tochoose drills that you’re confident that you may score high in. There’s nothing wrong with challenging yourself and choosing drills that will actually cause you to improve as a player, but if you score low in your drills multiple weeks in a row, you’ll be setting your player back.
How To Earn Skill Points With Game Performance
How you perform in a game is going to beone of the most important aspects of your player’s progression, both in terms of the coach’s confidence in you, and in how quickly you earn skills points. You can significantly set yourself back if you perform poorly, butyou can speed up your progress exponentially if you perform well.
Do Your Job
The most important thing to keep in mind is simple:just do your job, regardless of your position. There is a time and a place for reading a play or seeing an open spot and going off-script, but most of the time, therest of the players on the field are going to be relying on you to do exactly what the play art tells you to do.
For example, if you’re playing Linebacker and the game tells you to drop back into a zone, do that. You will gain XP for covering any player crossing into your zone, regardless of if you are ever near the ball on the play or not.
There are certain cases where you can make a big play by shooting a gap or the equivalent for your position, andthe more you play, the better your understanding of when to play the ball and when to play your position.
