Arguably the most unique reward you can earn inDestiny 2are mementos, one-time consumable items that grant access to exclusive animated shaders to your favorite weapons. Coat your weapons in liquid gold, give your weapons an animated Vex appearance, or give your weapon a pitch-black appearance that rivals Superblack.
With nearly a dozen different mementos to chase, there are no shortage of unique animated shaders you may unlock for your upgraded weapons. Today, we’ll be giving a brief overview of how mementos work in Destiny 2 and give a showcase of all currently obtainable mementos and their respective shaders.
What Are Mementos?
Mementos are one-time-use consumables thatgrant your enhanced weapons unique, animated shaders. Nearly every endgame activity in Destiny 2 has a memento you can earn as a rare drop or through a difficult challenge. You can hold up tofive mementos of each type at a time.
Once you’ve acquired a memento, you may install one into a weapon’s memento slot while in the inspect menu. Bear in mind thatonly enhanced weapons may use mementos. You also can’t apply mementos to Exotics.Upon reaching Level 30 with a given weapon, you’ll be able to apply a memento’s unique shader from the shader tab of the inspect menu. Memento shaders are always listed after your favorite shaders.

Event Mementos
Every season has a unique event in Destiny 2. Throughout the year, the Tower will rotate between Guardian Games, Solstice, Festival of the Lost, and The Dawning. Each event has a unique mementoyou can earn by playing that event’s new activity and redeeming rewards. Engrams from each event tend to have a small chance of dropping a memento once you complete a short Triumph.

Ritual Mementos
Destiny 2’s ritual activities—Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit—each haveat least one memento you may chase. PvE players can go for the Nightfall memento from Grandmaster Nightfall clears. PvP players can either farm Iron Banner for that playlist’s respective shader or reach the Lighthouse to gain the Trials of Osiris memento. And if you’re one of Gambit’s most dedicated players, wins in that playlist have a small chance of dropping a Gambit memento as well.
