Ghasts are one of the oldest troublesome mobs inMinecraft, having been in the game not quite since its inception, but were introduced not long after. For a long time Ghasts were regarded, if not with fear, with irritation. Even to a player geared to the teeth, one wrong hit from a Ghast could send you sailing into the lava below.

But not all Ghasts are to be feared; in fact, Happy Ghasts are here to fix the Ghasts bad rap. These little things aren’t just adorable (and they certainly are adorable), they can be extremely helpful, too. They’ll style and function, all in one.

Crafting a Dried Ghast in Minecraft.

How To Craft Dried Ghast Blocks

Dried Ghast blocks are relatively simple to craft; but what’s not so simple is getting one of the two ingredients needed to make them.Soul Sand is going to be necessary here, and while that is not terribly troublesome to get,Ghast Tears can be a bit of a problem.

Buildinga Ghast Farmis one solution to this, and while that does take some work, it will net you plenty of Ghast drops once you’ve finished.

Dried Ghasts can also befound alongside Nether Fossils in the Nether. you may grab these with any tool, or with your hand, and take them to wherever you’d like to bring the Happy Ghast to life.

How To Make A Happy Ghast

Once you’ve got your Dried Ghast Block, it’s time to pull out the water.Create a small section of water(a three-by-three area is fine for this).Place the Dried Ghast in water, and then wait.

If the Dried Ghast has green sparkles appearing above it occasionally, things are working just fine. It’ll take upwards of fifteen minutes for it to fully come to life.

Once they’re born, you may feed Happy Ghasts Snowballs in order to help them grow up faster.

What To Do With Happy Ghasts

Happy Ghasts can beridden with a Harness, which is crafted fromthree Leather, two Wool, and one Glass. Once you’ve got a Harness on them, you can fly at will with your new friend.

Happy Ghasts will follow you if you hold a snowball in your hand.

Happy Ghasts have a ton of uses, the most obvious of which issafety when building vertically. Gone are the days of building precarious dirt pillars or elaborate sections of Scaffolding whenyou can simply fly exactly where you need to be.

Happy Ghasts are alsoperfect for exploration, particularly at night. you may get a bird’s-eye (Ghast’s eye?) view of the area, and at night, you can be up and away from the bulk of the mobs that are looking to turn you into a snack.

It’s also possible to make an elevator with a Happy Ghast, though whether you can stomach keeping your Happy Ghast stuck in such a confined area is your call to make.
