How To Find The Premetamorphic Green Hunter

Once you have reachedthe Ergo Mining Site Stargazeryou will be right where you need to be in order to reach the Premetamorphic Green Hunter. From the Stargazer, head to your right and you will enter a raised pathway. Follow that path, killing robot miners and dogs along the way, and you will drop down into an area with a pond. This is the same area where youget the Genius Cylinder from the nearby safe. A miniboss will burst through the wall, but you can ignore them and head up the ladder if you like.

In the area with the miniboss, you can open up a shortcut door. Since you will probably have to come back this way again, this is absolutely worth doing.

Now, from here, you are going totake a lift across to the other end of the cavern. From the lift, take a left, fighting your way through a few more robotic foes, and then heading through a tunnel. This will take you to a bridge, cross the bridge, then head into another cave. You’ll end up in a room with a ladder going up, and a lift going down. Take the lift down and face the rock wall as you descend.Part way down, there will be a cave you can enter by stepping off the lift. You will hear an ominous roar as you pass by this cave.

Don’t worry if you miss it on the way down, you can take the lift back up again.

Once you enter the cave, just follow it down. Eventually, you will fall through the floor and enter the boss arena. Unfortunately, there is no Stargazer near the entrance, soif you die, you will need to travel this route again.

Suggested Counters

Four-Hit Combo

This combo will see the Green Hunter wind up a backhand before following it up with three palm slams. These don’t move the Green Hunter too far forward. In the later parts of the battle, it will add a fifth furious attack at the end of this sequence.

Sprintaway and keep your distance. Then, land an attack of your own after the fourth slam.

Palm Slam Attack

This is the Green Hunter’s standard attack sequence. It will stand on its hind legs, raise its arms up, and then perform a palm slam attack. It often does two of these in a row. These are fairly easy to parry, but also quite easy to dodge away from.

Dodge to the sidejust as the palm is coming down.

Tendril Skewer

The Green Hunter likes to use this attack when you are at a distance. It always performs two of these in a row. When you see the Green Hunter stand up on their hind legs at a distance, they are preparing to shoot their tendril at you. If it hits with this attack, you will be pulled toward the creature, and it will chew on you to regain health.

Dodge to the sidethe moment you see the tendril emerging (you’ll need to evade this attack twice).

Furious Rush

This is another attack the Green Hunter likes to use when you are farther away. They will glow red and then scamper toward you at a breakneck pace. This is hard to avoid, but if you parry it you will stun this monster.

Parry the Green Hunterthe moment it hits you. Then hit him with your hardest attacks when it is stunned.

Burrowing Attack

This attack should be familiar. The Green Hunter will burrow into the ground, and you will see the ground becoming disturbed as it tunnels toward you. Once it is under your feet, it will pop out of the ground. If it catches you, it will grab you and drain some of your health.

Dodge to the sideonce it reaches you from its tunnel under the ground.

Poison Spit

The Green Hunter will spit a poisonous mist at you. This will come out as a steady stream. You can sprint out of range quite easily.

Sprint awayfrom the poison.

Four-Hit Tendril Combo

This attack will see the Green Hunter spew a little poison, then stand on its hind legs and stumble forward with three vertical tendril swipes. It will then finish with a sweeping horizontal tendril attack.

Sprint to the sidewhile the Green Hunter performs the vertical attacks, thendodge the final horizontal swipe.

Lunging Grab Attack

If the Green Hunter stands on their hind legs and stumbles forward, without raising their hand for a palm slam, then you know they are going to leap at you and attempt to grab you. If they do, they will chew on you and drain some of your health.

Dodge to the sidethe moment the Green Hunter leaps forward.

Retreating Tendril Swipes

When the Green Hunter wants to retreat, it will start furiously flailing its tendrils while it scuttles backward. This is a great opportunity to heal yourself and apply weapon effects and such.

Roll backwardwhen you see its tendrils flail toward youand let the Green Hunter gain distance.

You will immediately recognize the Premetamorphic Green Hunter as being eerilysimilar to theGreen Monster Of The Swapyou fought in theBarren Swampsection of the primary Lies of P campaign. And, sure enough,it has a lot of familiar attacks. This includes its long-range tendril spikes, and its tendency to burrow underground and approach you from underneath.

One of the big hurdles you will face in this fight is its healing-based attacks. You really want to identify the lunging grab, the burrowing attack, and the tendril skewer. Not only will these attacks deal a hefty amount of damage, but they will also erase some of the damage you’ve dealt. Thankfully, all three have the same answer:well-timed dodges.

As for attacks that you are looking to counter, its furious rush is an easy parry, andparrying that attack will stagger the Green Hunter. That is the best opportunity for easy damage. Additionally, you may circle it and deal hefty damage when it is spewing poison at you. Lastly, once you dodge the burrowing attack, you will be able to punish it with a big attack or two.

How To Beat The Premetamorphic Green Hunter

Here are the big takeaways you’ll want to absorb in order to get a leg up on the Premetamorphic Green Hunter…

When it comes to defeating the Green Hunter, you are going to want to keep a few things in mind. First of all, having a weapon that can hit at rangewill be a huge advantage, given that the best way to deal with this creature is to deliberately space it out. Secondly, the Green Hunter is vulnerable to fire, so you will want to have an option for lighting it up (even if that is just with thrown weapons).

Sticking the Salamander Dagger blade onto a spear handle is a very strong option for this fight.

I’d also recommend that you bring in the Icarus Legion Arm. It eats these bigger bosses up, andit is a great tool for dishing out damage. Especially when it is standing still and spraying its poisonous mist everywhere. Speaking of the poison spit attack, when the Green Hunter uses that, you will be able to use whatever item you see fit or use fable abilities.

You don’t need the final upgrade of the Icarus arm, but the upgrades leading up to it will greatly increase its efficacy.

When it comes time to square up, just make sure to stay out of reach, only moving in to land an attack after it is left vulnerable after having whiffed attacks. By keeping your distance, you will nullify most of its palm slam and tendril-whipping attacks.

When it is at a distance, prepare to dodge the aforementioned lunging grab, burrowing grab, and tendril skewer attacks. Just roll away the moment before impact and you will be golden. Keeping away from this creature will also help to bait out its furious rush attack. This is great, asparrying that furious rush attack is your best avenue to easy damage.

The Premetamorphic Green Hunter doesn’t have a second form. It gets a little more aggressive, but that is about the extent of it. You also don’t need to kill it. Once you take away around 95% of its health, it will run away. Because, plot twist, it is, in fact, the baby version of the Green Monster you kill in the base game. Once you defeat it,you will gain a Quartz for your trouble!
