To begin your journey to track down this merchant, you’ll need to startnorthwest of the East Gatelocation in the Horns of the South.

If that was way too many cardinal directions in one sentence, just go to The Gallows by fast traveling to the East Gate.

At TheGallows, you’ll need to dispatch two enemiesbefore you’re able to turn your focus to the task at hand.

Look for acrateon the gallows with aLetter From a Shady Merchant insideand read it.

The angry note demands a Hanged Man’s Noose, an Ogre’s Right Toe, and Drowner Tongues for someone named M. Hmm.

Interestingly, you may grab a couple of Drowner’s Tongues from the crate.

How To Find Malachy & Begin His Hidden Questline

Once you have the note, headnorthwestto theDeserted Settlement.

You can find this location to thenorthwest of the Abandoned Stronghold,where you meet Galahad, and southwest of the Tomb of the Good Druid, along the western beach coast in the Horns of the South.

Once you reach this area, you’ll encounterMalachy, the shady merchant mentioned in the letteryou found at The Gallows.

The first time you speak with Malachy, he’ll entice you by asking if you have an interest in rare, precious items he has in his inventory. Once you’ve agreed to look over his thoroughly useless collection of fake relics,speak to him again.

After you’re done with his introductory spiel and speak to him a second time, you canask Malachy ‘Did you write this letter?‘and follow the conversation after you show him what you found at The Gallows.

Offer to help Malachy procure some rare goods, which will spark the beginning of aquest called ‘Drowner Tongues for Malachy’

Complete this quest and follow Malachy’s questlineto continue gaining coins and have access to him as a merchant.

Given his shady nature, Malachy will be available to buy your items during the evening, when most shops close until the morning. He’s a great source for quick inventory clean-outs after adventuring at night.
