Ornithopter inDune: Awakeningallows you to travel large distances in a short amount of time. Plus, they can help you completely avoid sandworms. However, they can be hard to craft due to a key component that’s a challenge to find. This resource is called Carbide Scraps, which seems to be one of the rarer materials you can get in the game.
While it spawns in a couple of areas on Arrakis, it has a low drop rate. So, you may have to do a lot of searching before you’re able to find them. On the other hand, by reading this guide, you can locate the Carbide Scraps better.
Where To Find Carbide Scraps
As mentioned, there are atleast two placesthat spawn this material, but with that being said, they are highly dangerousand filled with enemies. So, it would be a good idea to be properly prepared for what comes ahead.
A craftedsandbikecan make getting to these locations more efficient as they’re far apart from each other. However, carry enough fuel since you’ll be traveling for quite some time.
Hand of Khidr
The first spot to check would benorth of Eastern Vermillius Gap in Jabal Eifrit Al-janub. The location you want to go to will be theHand of Khidr. It should be in thesouthern sectionof theJabal Eifrit Al-janub region. You can easily spot it by opening up the map and seeing thetallest mountainin the area.
Before you reach the Hand of Khidr dungeon, you’ll enter theShadow of Khidr. Clear out this area first before attempting the dungeon. Mainly because thechest in the areamay have Carbide Scrapes.
Once all the enemies are gone, safely head into the dungeon. As you delve deeper into the dungeon, the chests that you come across should the scrapes as well. The difference between the dungeon and the surface chests is that the chests in the former have ahigher chance of the material appearing.
Mysa Tarill
Directly west of Jabal Eifrit Al-janub, you can find another regioncalled Mysa Tarill, where the scraps will also be. However, this area ismuch harder to get throughthan the Hand of Khidr.
So,progress in the storyof Dune: Awakening to earn better gear, which can make the outpost easier to clear.
When you get to Mysa Tarill, head to the Crossroad Tradepost. It’ll be in thenorthern partof the zone.
If you have about 3,500 Solaris you’re willing to part with, you’re able to always buy Carbide Scraps from a vendor named Zoe at the tradepost. Additionally, you can also purchase the scraps at the weapon vendors in Arrakeen andHarko Village.
Unlike the Hand of Khidr, the outpost isn’t named, which could make it harder to spot. Assuming you’re still at the Crossroad trade post, you should see awall with a large opening in the middle. The outpost will beon the other sideof the opening.
As you did in the Hand of Khidr, deal with the enemiesfirst before entering the dungeon. However, you’ll need an armbandto go inside. You can easily find it on theright side of the large projecting head, which is locatedjust outsidethe dungeon.
