In the harsh, unforgiving world ofRimworld, survival is often paramount. Yet, even amidst the constant struggle against raiders, starvation, and extreme weather, there’s an undeniable allure to personalising your colony and its inhabitants. For those who seek to add a splash of colour and style to their otherwise utilitarian apparel, the Tinctoria plant holds the key.
Whether you dream of a coordinated faction uniform, a vibrant wardrobe for your beloved colonists, or simply wish to make a bold aesthetic statement in your interior design choices, understanding how to cultivate and utilise this valuable plant is essential.
How To Get Tinctoria
Tinctoria is a plant that can begrown in any Growing Zone. There are no prerequisite technologies to research for this, just a zone! You may also find it on sale through traders, but it’s not really worth buying - just grow it!
If you’re playing in a location that doesn’t allow you to grow plants, however, traders will be your only source of the plant.
How To Dye Buildings And Floors
With Tinctoria, you canpaint any wall or floor(not the ground, only constructed floors) any one of the large range of colours available in-game.
You’ll find the option to paint in theOrders section of the Architect menu.
The’Paint Building' option can also be used to paint objects and furniture, but only some (and you’ll find that this only dyes the parts of the objects made of wood or stone in most cases).
There is also aRemove Paintoption in the Orders menu, in case you regret your choices. This will refund some Tinctoria.
How To Dye Hair And Apparel
If you have the Ideology DLC, you’ll be able touse Tinctoria with the Styling Station, which is unlocked with the Complex Furniture research.
When you instruct a pawn to use a Styling Station, you’ll also be able toedit the colour of their hair and apparel, as long as you have the requisite Tinctoria at hand.
