Roblox: The Strongest Battlegroundsbrings the fundamentals of fighting games to a more accessible format, but make no mistake: the skill ceiling is high, and the more you practice, the better you’ll perform. While most of your playstyle will hover around the character-specific abilities visible at the bottom of your screen, there are a few tiny mechanics the game doesn’t tell you about, all of which can elevate your fighting expertise.
One such mechanic is the uppercut — although simple and a staple in the fighting game genre, you might be intrigued to not find it as an in-game move initially. However, the technique is indeed present, and if you want to execute true combos and combo extensions, learning it is a must.
How To Do An Uppercut
The first step to doing an uppercut isattacking your opponent with a basic triple-hit M1 combo, which is your simple left-click. During the second hit of the combo, hold the jump button, and once the third hit lands, you’ll perform a follow-up uppercut that launches the opponent into the air. As a universal move, you may do this with any character in the game, and, unlike a wall combo, it has the same animation across the board.
Timing is key — you must hold the jump button immediately after landing the second hit, or you won’t trigger the uppercut animation!
Uppercuts arethe key to aerial combos. When the opponent is airborne, you’re able to chain abilities likemidair punches or energy blasts to extend your damage output. Alternatively, you can even use them as a getaway tool — landing a midair punch sends the opponent flying much farther backwards, allowing you to escape if you feel like your health is critically low.
It’s also worth noting that learning the uppercut unlocks a path to several universal techniques, includingthe Uppercut Dash, Uppercut Jump, Uppercut Kick, and many others. All of these moves have different use cases, likereduced knockback and synergies with some hero abilities, letting you reserve strategies for precarious encounters.
