InPeak, climbing a mountain is only half the battle, surviving what the mountain throws at you is the real test. And if you’ve heard whispers about the Scoutmaster, yes, he’s real, and yes, he absolutely wants to yeet you off a cliff. Spawning this relentless, towering nightmare is the key to unlocking one of the game’s wildest achievements, but triggering the encounter isn’t as simple as just ringing a doorbell.
There are a couple of ways to bring him into your game (and into your nightmares). If you’re ready to find out how to summon him, and maybe survive long enough to brag about it, read on.
There aretwo main waysto get the Scoutmaster to appear:
Use The Scoutmaster Bugle
The first method is byusing a rare item called the Scoutmaster Bugle.
This legendary item can sometimes befound as rare loot in Luggagesorin Statues. Once you pick it up,blowing the buglewill instantly summon the Scoutmaster. He’ll appear in the distance and lock onto you, chasing you down no matter where you go.
He mainlytargets the player who used the bugle, though he may target other nearby players if you pick up their knocked out body. Once he catches up, he’ll grab you and throw you.
He’ll keep doing this over and over until you either die or manage to get far enough away for him to give up.
Separate From Your Group
The second way to spawn the Scoutmasteronly works in multiplayer. If you’reway ahead of your teammates, more than 200 or so meters, thegame will punish you for leaving them behindby spawning the Scoutmaster. Like before, he’ll onlygo after the playerwho triggered the spawn.
This makes it a good way to trigger the encounter if you haven’t found the bugle.
How To Defeat The Scoutmaster
There’sno known way to defeat the Scoutmaster.Surviving his attacksandrunning away is your only real goal. If he defeats you, however,you’ll unlock the ‘Mentorship Badge’.
Some terrain, like hanging vines, seems to offer temporary safety, as the Scoutmaster can’t always reach you there. But for the most part, once he’s after you, you’ll have to keep moving and hope you can outlast him until he despawns.
