Parryas Lumacchio is about to land on you.
Lumacchio’s attacks from his first and second phase are very different beasts. The things you learn in the first phase will not necessarily help you for the second.
This means that you have tolearn each combination set on their own terms.
Etiquette, the parasol weapon we can earn in the base game, is dangerous for itsability to also parry you. This highly incentivizes you tonot be too aggressive and attack from the front.
To get around Etiquette, your best bet is to stick toattack Lumacchio only after his combos have concluded or when performing backstabs. Of course, fitting for the king of backstabbing himself.
As a monster, Lumacchio’s most dangerous attack in his full repertoire is hisBastard’s Rage. Altogether, there are seven attacksin this full combo chain.
To survive this onslaught, you will have toback awayat the start and use your dodge toget onto Lumacchio’s far side. By getting behind Lumacchio before his claw combo, you may confuse his AI a little and reduce the amount of attacks that can effectively reach you.

The general strategy for most of Lumacchio’s fight is:backstab, backstab, and more backstab.
Like all human enemies, Lumacchio isuniquely susceptible to critical hitsfrom behind. However, getting this slippery fool to cooperate with your strategy is the main difficulty.
To get Lumacchio to stay stilllong enough for a backstab:
After backstabbing Lumacchio repeatedly, you will eventually seehis phase transitions:
During both transitions,he will be immune to damage.During this immunity time, he will be so busy talking thathe won’t notice you:
The monster phase is particularly troublesome because you’lllose access to backstabbingthanks to Lumacchio’s aggression and movement.
When having trouble with Lumacchio in this phase, it is important toremember these things:
We recommendhaving two abrasive typesfor this fight since Lumacchio’s weaknesses shift. Carrying Acid and either Perfect Guard or Fire for your abrasives or grindstones is typically best.
When you defeat Lumacchio, he will drop theGolden Snail’s MaskandGolden Snail’s Tailcoat.
However, Lumacchio isn’t the kind of guy to give up, so your encounter isn’t over yet. Now, he’ll have the audacity toask you for mercy.
Should I Spare Lumacchio?
No.This is supposed to be a choice, but no.
Lumacchio will try to convince you that he was played a fool as much as you and really a victim in all of this. However,Lumacchio is the leader of the Bastards for a reason.
Leave Lumacchio
If you choose to spare Lumacchio, he will disappear after you rest. You’llfind a notelater from him telling you that you’re a gullible idiot, taunting you for your mercy. This hasno effect on the storygoing forward.
