There are many threats inRevenge of the Savage Planet. Explosive flora, vicious fauna, treacherous corporations, and the general expanse of space and the vast spaces between familiarity. Some of them, perhaps, are not as pertinent a threat as others, but they are all worthy of fear. Scary stuff dwells in space, and there is no escape from your job, either.

That said, you’re able to run away from a lot of your problems, but the bosses you have to fight aren’t one of them. Clawbarella is one such boss in the game, and one that plays more like an old-fashioned isometric battle than a third-person shooter. It’s a mechanically simple fight, but one that requires timing to surpass.

Where Is Clawbarella Fought?

Clawbarella is the second boss of the game, and isfought in the Zenithian Rift. The Zenithian Rift is split into three sections - the ground floor, the depths, and the peaks. Clawbarella is found in the depths. Thoughthe deepest section of the depthsthat there is. It takes some effort to reach them in the first place.

To first access the depths proper, you need to get the stomp ability. With this, you can get to a lower section of the planet, until you find a room with toxic plumes you must gap. Stomp these down to fill with the with gas. Did we mention it was toxic? You have to flee now until you get thetoxic filter for your mask, which is found at the very peak of the planet.

Once you’ve gotten the toxic mask filter, you may stomp the rest of those toxic plumes to cause the ground to shatter.Through this hole, finally, you can reach your missing container with another tool, and the Clawbarella boss fight.

How To Beat Clawbarella

Like the other bosses in the game,Clawbarella is split into multiple phases. It is a fairly simple fight which makes extensive use of your stomping ability. It is the only ability that is required for the fight, though we would recommend you also get theBounce Shot ability for your gun. This helps speed through the fight much faster.

To unlock the Bounce Shot upgrade, you must firstbeat the various challenges given to you, including the Shock and Awe challenge.

Revenge of the savage planet clawbarella phase one.

Phase One

Clawbarella’s first phase is easy, and plays off a tried-and-true gaming tradition -big, glowing orange weak points. In this phase, they are located all along Clawbarella’s chest. There’s no secret or strategy to this. All you have to do it shoot them a few times to destroy them, and they will move into the next phase.

Clawbarella’s moveset during this phase is fairly simple as well. For the most part, they will justbreathe fire and do a sweeping attack with their claw. Just hop over them.

Revenge of the savage planet clawbarella phase two.

Phase Two

Phase two begins after you have destroyed the weak points on Clawbarella’s chest, but no new weak points seem to appear. So where are they? They are under their claws, which you must destroy to reveal. And how do you do this?By stomping on them, of course.

This does require some specific timing, however. While you could attempt to stomp on them as they are swinging across the battlefield, this does require very precise timing. However, a new attack is introduced during this phase whereClawbarella performs a heavy slam attack with their claws. They will do this just one at a time, and it remains for a few seconds to give you the time to stomp that shell off.

Once the shell is removed, those glowing spots will be revealed. This is where the Bounce Shot comes in handy. It can potentially destroy all of the glowing spots in a single go, and will almost definitely destroy them all with just two Bounce Shots. It’s incredible helpful when you’re trying to catch the more hidden glowing spots.

You have torepeat this for both claws, at which point it will proceed into the final phase.

Phase Three

The third and final phase is just like the previous, but much more aggressive.Clawbarella reveals they had another set of clawshidden beneath the lava. Like the last phase, you need tostomp away the shells on the claws to reveal the glowing spots. Except this time, Clawbarella is out for blood. They will swipe multiple times in a row, all their attacks are accompanied by fire, and they will slam with both claws at once.

The claw slam attacks will also now strike twice, so don’t fall into the trap of rushing towards them after just a single slam. Otherwise, it is identical to the last phase.Bounce Shot is your best friend, so use it as much as possible to speed through this phase. Destroy this final set of claws and Clawbarella will be all out of tricks.

Defeated, you are now free to claim your next tool, the underwater scooter. Now you may plunge the depths of any body of water you come across!
