The old Continent inClair Obscur: Expedition 33is a dangerous place, largely thanks to the Paintress' creations, the mighty Nevrons. These strange monsters come in many shapes and sizes and roam the land, acting on her orders to kill intruders like the Expeditioners without hesitation.
As you travel, you may find yourself coming across unique specimens hiding in secluded arenas known as Chromatic variants. These Chromatic Nevrons are larger and more powerful than their normal variants, and often boast the need for unique tactics when fighting them. If you can manage to overcome their challenge, you’ll be rewarded handsomely.
How To Find The Chromatic Ramasseur
The Chromatic Ramasseur isfound in the Visages, an area that only becomesaccessible once Esquie regains the ability to swimat the end of Act I and theability to crush coral, which is obtainedafter visiting Old Lumière.
Once at the Visage, you’ll need to take thesecond path on the left side of the central areawith the Gestral Merchant that leadsinto the Sadness Mask.
It sends you to a rainy area with a blue tone, andfrom the Flagthere, go down the hill towards a set of three enemiessitting in a graveyard, thengo past them to the left, up the hill, and thenfollow the path towards an open arenawith the Chromatic Ramasseur in the middle.
How To Beat The Chromatic Ramasseur
The Chromatic Ramasseur is tough and has aunique way of battlingit – you canonly damage it with Counterattacksuntil youstun the boss by Breakingit.
The Boss isresistant to Dark element, so with characters like Sciel and Verso, you’ll want to avoid using Dark element skills, even if it applies Foretell, as you don’t have the same amount of time to take advantage of it as normal.
During the battle, theboss willget infinite turnsunless it’s Broken, and even if you havePictosguaranteeing you act first, none of your characters will receive turns.
The Chromatic Ramasseur hasthree types of attacksyou need to deal with:
Both theshort and long combos have the same message of the boss performing a combo with a Nevron arm, so the only tell is if the attack continues after the fourth hit, and the slight delay in between the combo sections.
Because of this, you’ll want togo into this battlenot only withhigh HP to help mitigate any missed Parries, but good attack, and anyPictos that boost Counterattack and Break damage, givebonus damagein return for not being able to heal, orreduce damage, such as:
270 Health
11% Critical Rate
Start battle with Inverted for three turns, and deal 50 percent more damage while Inverted at any time.
216 Health
71 Defense
Consume 1 AP if possible to reduce any damage taken by 30 percent.
222 Health
20% Critical Rate
Increases damage by 30 percent, but the character can’t be healed.
62 Speed
12% Critical Rate
Take 50 percent less damage from all sources, but can’t be healed.
9% Critical Rate
Increases all Break damage by 25 percent.
Some Pictos' stats can be upgraded by finding a higher-level version of them, so there may be slight differences in the bonuses given.
Theeasiest time to get a Counterattackis when the Chromatic Ramasseur doeseither the Mortal Hit or Short Combo, since there are fewer hits to deal with.
If theydo the eight-hit combo, but youmiss a Parry, you can go ahead andswap to dodging for the entire comboto try and prevent as much damage as possible, since you’llalready have missed out on the Counterattackopportunity.
Since theboss gets infinite turns most of the time, you can dodge everything and wait for his Mortal Hit and Short Combo to give yourself the best opportunityto do damage.
When yousuccessfully Counterattack, a message will pop up saying that theChromatic Ramasseur has been weakened, signaling you’re making progress.
If youhit around four Counterattacks in a row, depending on your Break damage, you willBreak the boss and stun it, which allows you toget a few turns like normal.
Use thehighest damage skills you haveduring this time, especially those of theLight element, to hit the Chromatic Ramasseur’s weaknessin combination withskills that put stacks of Burn on the bossfor extra damage per turn, like Lune’s Immolation and Maelle’s Rain of Fire.
After each of yourthree characters has had a turn, the boss willbecome unstunned, and you’ll need torepeat the same processof gettingdamage on it via Counterattacksuntil you defeat it or break it again.
Once it’s dead, you’ll get a massive amount of EXP, theAugmented Counter II Pictos, twoResplendent Chroma Catalysts, and fiveColour of Lumina. And, outside the battle, you can alsograb the Glass Cannon Pictosfrom a pile ofdebris in the corner of the arena.
