The Fighters Guild questline inOblivion Remasteredputs you in the role of a mercenary completing odd jobs across Cyrodiil. It’s a partially nonlinear experience as you pick up the guild’s various contracts in any order. Throughout the first few missions, you start to see the cracks in the foundations of the Fighters Guild.

“Unfinished Business” has you face a guild member, Maglir, refusing to complete his duties due to insubordination. You’ll need to pick up the slack, journey into Fallen Rock Cave, where you’ll face various undead foes, and finally decide Maglir’s fate.

How To Start Unfinished Business

Assuming you’ve already completed “The Unfortunate Shopkeeper” and “The Desolate Mine”, you will be instructed tomeet with Vilena Donton of the Chorrol Fighters Guildfor your next assignment. Once you arrive, she will direct you to Modryn Oreyn, who has a situation that needs handling.

Modryn will inform you that one of the guild members,Maglir, has defaulted on a contractand needs to be checked on. He also warns you of the damage the situation is doing to the guild’s reputation.

Where To Find Maglir

Maglir is staying in the West Weald Inn, closest to the west gate of Skingrad. When you confront him, he’ll explain the job he was given and why the pay was insufficient. The job in question was to enter Fallen Rock Cave and retrieve Brenus Astis' journal. He ends the conversation by saying that if you want to risk your neck going after the journal, you’re more than welcome to.

How To Find The Journal In Fallen Rock Cave

Fallen Rock Cave is located within a short hike northeast of Skingrad. The cave itself is filled with undead creatures, including wraiths, zombies, and skeletons, sobe sure to pack enchanted or silver weaponsas well as a scroll or spell of Turn Undead. It’s also recommended that you bring potions that restore attributes like strength, endurance, or speed, as wraith abilities can damage these.

The journal itself can be found on a stone shelf in a small flooded roomtowards the bottom of the cave, in a trench guarded by more undead. Once you grab the journal, you may explore the rest of the cave for leveled loot or move on to the next section of the quest in which you decide Maglir’s fate.

The next quest in the Fighters Guild questline, “Drunk and Disorderly”,requires you to gather five samples of ectoplasm.Collecting your samples from the defeated ghosts and wraiths here will save you a headache down the road.

Should You Lie For Maglir Or Not?

Once you’ve obtained the journal, it’s time to decide what to include in your report to Modryn. You can return to Maglir in Skingrad for a short, optional conversation in which he explains his situation even further. This won’t impact the outcome of the quest but may inform your decision. Once you’ve made up your mind and return to Chorrol,Modryn will want an explanationas to why Maglir defaulted on his contract.

From here, you can choose to either tell the truth about Maglir’s cowardice or lie to cover for him.

Both options will receive the same gold payout, so it may be tough to decide which option is more worthwhile in the long run. Without spoiling the plot of the Fighters Guild questline, ratting on Maglir is definitely the better option.Having some help on a future quest is nice, but an extra point of fame will make more quests available faster, as well as improve relationships with other NPCs.
