Each and every character inDate Everythingmanages to somehow be an entirely unique individual. There are some that are perhaps a bit lighter on depth, but even when they serve a similar purpose, such as desks and tables, they still serve as Dateables with personalities of their own.
With Chance, this is taken to the extreme. He is embodied by the item he represents through and through, though it is the unique gameplay mechanics associated with him that allow him to stand out so much. So grab your dice and let your imagination run wild. We’re finding love in a tabletop RPG.
Where To Find Chance
Chance is, in the world of Date Everything, the physical representation of G&G. That is to say Graveyards and Gargoyles. There are no dungeons nor dragons present here. He is a D20,the dice that is situated right on top of your desk in your home office. Amidst the pencils, books, and papers he can be easy to gloss over.
Once you interact with him, he appears hooded, introducing you to the world of G&Gthrough the familiar tones of Matt Mercer. Surely just a coincidence, no relation to D&D whatsoever.
Chance’s G&G Session
After you first meet Chance, he will organise a G&G session with you, and asks you to pick from one of four classes to play as. These are the Troubabour, Wizard, Warrior, and Rogue. These classes determinewhich you will play as during the G&G session, so choose carefully. Your adventure will overall be the same regardless of the choice you make, though it will determine what options are available to you.
We chose to play as a Troubadourin this section, and our choices reflect that.
When you begin the session, you will be given 50 Hit Points. If you lose all of these, you will fail your adventure. Now let’s head into the choice you should make to come out safe on the other side:
From this point on, any choice you make is fair to survive. Making these choices, you should be able to make it through the entire sessionwithout taking a single point of damage. With this, the Queen and her son are saved, the party is triumphant, and the King is defeated.
How To Get Each Ending With Chance
Like every character,Chance has three endings you can achieve. All of them are directly related to your performance (or lack thereof) in his G&G session, so make sure to do your best. Here’s how to get all of them.
Love
If you want Chance to love you, it’s overall pretty easy. You just have tobe enthusiastic with him, partake gleefully in the G&G session, and make sure you succeed. If you do all of this, he will be utterly smitten with you. At the end, you will then have the option to reciprocate this love, stay as friends, or even get him to hate you. It’s all in your hands.
Friends
Being friends with Chance is mostly the same as getting him to love you, though comes aboutmore as a result of your failuresthan otherwise. If you fail during his G&G session or consecutively make poor or boring choices, he will still appreicate you taking part and having fun, but will only want you formalise your relationship as just friends.
Hate
To hate someone so enthusiastic seems cruel, but maybe that’s your thing. As joyful as he is, it’s a bit harder to make Chance outright hate you. The key is tojust be spiteful and mean in every scenario. Belittle session, make fun of the world, break character, make sur to fail. All of the above will make even this calm GM lose his cool and hate you.
At least you can get some consolation prize ingetting to meet a unique Dateablefrom getting the Hate ending the first time.
