If you want to get intoTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon’s All-Mother’s temple without having to fight your way through an army, you are going to need to win the approval of Vrann, the leader of the Volker camped in front of it and the second-in-command to One-Eye. This quest is pretty interesting in that it has four pretty distinct resolutions that all carry their own rewards.
This guide will take you through every possible route you can travel down in this quest, tell you where to get the necessary ingredients, and give you a complete understanding of the different rewards you’ll earn along the way.
How To Start The Acts Of Kindness Quest
To start this quest, head to the northeast corner of the map. If you’ve already unlocked all the fast travel points, this is the “All-Mother’s Temple” marker. Now, once you arrive here, you’ll need to talk to Mabyn. She’ll challenge you to a fight. While she isn’t weak, she is a pretty standard longsword-wielder, soparrying her is pretty easy. She doesn’t have any magic or anything either. If you arelevel ten-ishthen you should be in the clear.
Once you beat Mabyn, head to the triangular house on the east sideof this encampment and speak to Vrann. Tell her you want to enter the temple. She’ll tell you that you’ll need to prove yourself first. You will need to drink the potion she hands you to prove your trustworthiness,
Vrann will say that she wants to try to make a peace offering to the Keepers. Her best idea is an ear necklacemade from the ears of bandits. This is the easiest solution, as you are handed all the materials, but will backfire, causing outright hostility between the two groups. It is also the worst outcome for you, as this isthe only path in the quest that doesn’t yield an additional reward. You will, however, get 500 XP for giving the necklace to Fearghas and 1000 XP once you return and talk to Vrann.
Just in case the skill check is patched, if you have a Practicality of 5 you will have a 100% chance of passing the skillcheck.
The better method is to argue against it and select “Gifting someone’s body parts isn’t exactly well-received around here.” This is technically a skill check, but even with zero points in Practicality,I never managed to fail the check. She’ll ask if you have any suggestions. You will have three options for peace offering ideas. Choosing any of these three will provide you with a recipe to make them…
How To Make The Weak Mathair’s Battlerage Potion
The potion requires that youbring her 3 Iron Teeth, 1 Moonshine, and 5 Wolfsbane. Once you bring her the ingredients, she will give you the recipe for the Weak Mathair’s Battlerage. Take it Fearghas, and he’ll seem happy with the exchange. He’ll give you a barrel of fish to bring back to Vrann. You will also gain 500 XP. Once you give the fish to Vrann, she’ll be pleased, and you will gain an additional 1000 XP and the key to the temple. This is the option that makes everyone happy, and the potion is certainly worth having.
This Weak Mathair’s Battlerage Potion will decrease incoming damage by 15% for 60 seconds.
How To Make The Ulfr Ceremonial Axe
Speak to Ugh’we, exhaust the conversation options, and then tell him that Vrann wants him to craft an axe for the Keepers. Tell him it is an order from One-Eye. He’ll give you a recipe for the Ulfr Ceremonial Axe. Itwill require 12 Iron Ore, 8 Wood, and 5 Bear Claws. You can getwood in the fort itself from the chopping block, and you can acquire the iron and the bear claws on the east side of the map.
Head to the Ruined Broch fast travel marker, and mine for Iron around the nearby stone. You’ll also be able to find bears roaming around here. Of course, the problem isn’t going to be finding the bear, but killing it. I recommend loading up with potions, and either attacking withsummons and arrows, or a spear.
Once you’ve crafted the axe, bring it back to Ugh’we, and he’ll put the finishing touches on it. Bring it to Fearghas, and he will hesitantly accept it and give you 500 XP. Head back to Vrann and speak to her. She’ll reward you with 1000 XP and the key to the temple. This option has a mostly positive result, and it leaves you with afantastic axe if you are running a strength build.
46-50 axe that increases critical damage by 100%. Strength requirement of 12.
How To Make The Protective Talisman
Speak to Therrov and then tell him that Vrann wants him to craft a gift (and no potions). Tell him it is an order from One-Eye. He’ll give you a recipe for the Theud Protection Charm. Itwill require 2 Linen Fiber, 1 Wood, and 1 Bone. For the bone, head to the graveyard north of the fort and take it from a skeleton enemy, thewood is obtained in the fort itself from the chopping block, and the you can get the Linen Fibers. Once you’ve crafted the charm, bring it to Fearghas, and he’ll threaten to arrest you. Head back to Vrann and speak to her. She’ll be deeply unhappy with you, but will still reward you with 1000 XP and the key to the temple.
