How To Use The Moon Idol

Catching ittriggers a 24-hour buff on the exact rod you used to reel it in. This rod will begin to shimmer with a glowing crescent effect - a mark that it’s Moon-Kissed. You can also recognize that the effect has been applied bythe moon icon above your head. The following benefits apply only to that rod for the next 24 hours:

The XP boost alone makes it ideal for leveling or grinding out difficult catch tiers, while the weight and mutation bonuses can stack up for huge profits over time. The Moon-Kissed mutationgives fish a soft blue shimmer and makes them worth significantly more when sold.

It’s also worth noting that if you catch a Moon Idol in Sea 2, it has one extra use. You will need that specific Second Sea Moon Idol tounlock the Lobster Altar on Netter’s Haven- a hidden structure tied to the Lobster Trip update.

You can also choose to sell the idol for currency or keep it as a glowing trophy of your fishing journey, but using its buff is almost always the smarter play.
