As you play through the career mode a bunch of times inUmamusume: Pretty Derby, you can get a ton of pulls to get more characters. If you’re lucky, some of these characters might even be three-star with high base stats. However, the true usage of a character depends on their overall stats and skills.
Mejiro McQueen is one such three-star unit, and you can get her by either pulling on the character banner or waiting for her to appear on the Legend Races. However, she’s one of the hardest characters to build in the game due to her career mode.

Mejiro McQueen mainly works as a Pace Chaser in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, but she can also be used as aFront Runner if you manage to get that style on an A rating with her Legacies. Her unique skill increases her Power on the final corner if she’s in the front, which works quite well with both Pace Chaser and Front Runner style.
However, the main hurdle you’ll face during her career is the Medium and Long distances. She has anA rating on both of these and all her career races belong to them. However, it can be difficult to build a Pace Chaser on these distances since you need a ton of stats including Stamina and Power apart from Speed.
Themore careers you run in the game, thebetter your overall stats and rankingswill be.
Before you start a career with Mejiro McQueen, one of the main things to consider is her Legacies. While deciding on these, you first have to look at heraffinities with different characters and attempt to achieve a circle overall. Once you’ve achieved that, the next step is to look for as much Speed and Stamina as possible.
This essentially refers to your Legacy parents andtheir Legacy parents having Speed and Stamina as their sparks. You can check these by long pressing on any Legacy and going over to the Inspiration tab. In the early game, you can also follow a bunch of people from the Team Trials leaderboard and use their Legacies thrice a day.

After choosing your Legacies and Support Cards for a character, the next step is to decide how many of each stat you want to aim for. The game has a total of five stats you canupgrade on Mejiro McQueen: Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wit. Usually, a character focuses on two to three of these while keeping the rest on the back burner.
However, Mejiro McQueen works slightly differently since she needs a bit of all these stats. Speed is the most important stat in the game, andhence needs to be the highest with her Pace Chaser build. You also need Stamina to keep up with the Front Runners and Power/Guts to overtake them when the time is right.
Witshelp you activate your skills at the right time, which will be the deciding factor of your victory in Team Trials.
While the recommended speed for Mejiro McQueen is around 800, you canideally go up to 1,000 as long as you’re not ignoring the other stats to do it. However, since she requires a decent distribution of stats, it can be difficult to get an A rating on her unless you get a godly run with over 1,100 Speed and a B rating on at least two other stats.
McQueen doesn’t have a lot of races in her career, so you’re able to alsouse the downtime to run some G1 racesto get a ton of skill points and activate a bunch of skills on her.
Mejiro McQueen Best Skills
As a Pace Chaser, Mejiro McQueen requires a wide range of skills that let herregenerate some Stamina and get some extra Power at the right moment. However, if you’re building her as a Front Runner, she’ll mainly need as much Speed and Stamina as possible. Here are some of the best abilities for her:
Description
Pace Chaser Savvy
While green skills usually aren’t worth getting for the final score, they’re still good abilities with low skill points required.Pace Chaser Savvy helps her get into a good position, which essentially means increasing her Guts.
Swinging Maestro
If you don’t have a lot of other Pace Chasers in the race, it can be easy to turn a corner efficiently. This skill willhelp her regenerate some Staminawhen she does that.
Indomitable
When you pass another runner mid-race, you regenerate a bit of Stamina with this skill. As a Pace Chaser, you’llconstantly be crossing other racers throughout the race, making this skill highly worth it.
Straightaway Adept
This ability can increase your Power on a straight, which helps you get thefinal boost to cross the racersin the first position towards the end.
Prepared to Pass
This is the best ability to get for any Pace Chaser as it increases yourability to break out of the back on the final corner, which is the reason for your defeat a lot of times.
In Body and Mind
This skill gives a boost to your power in the last spurt, helping her with theovertake as a Pace Chaseror staying ahead as the Front Runner.
Overwhelming Pressure
If you’re building Mejiro for Long races, this canhelp her cross other racerstowards the end.
Mejiro McQueen Best Support Cards
Being a Pace Chaser for Medium and Long distances, Mejiro McQueen’s best Support Card build largely stays the same. Youcan use three Speed, two Stamina, and one Power cards. However, if you have a bunch of synergistic skills for her Stamina, you can even bump the Speed cards to four or use a Wit card.
Mejiro McQueenalso has a growth rate in Stamina and Wit, which helps her throughout therun while getting these stats.
Here are some of thebest SSR Support Cardsto use alongside this character in the career:
Synergy With Mejiro McQueen
Super Creek (Stamina)
This unit gives you the Swinging Maestro skill from her events, which can give you a massive boost to the Stamina and reduce Mejiro’s overall Stamina requirement. She can alsogive some Power with her skills while crossing another racertowards the end.
Twin Turbo (Speed)
If you’re planning to use Mejiro as a Front Runner, Twin Turbo isarguably the best card to havewith all its Front Runner skills.
Tokai Teio (Speed)
Apart from a massive mood effect on your training, this card also has a high Hint Frequency andgives you a bunch of maneuverability in skills, which essentially increases your Gut.
Rice Shower (Stamina)
While not the best card, this can still be used alongside Mejiro McQueen toget some Pace Chaser and Long skills, with most of them helping your Stamina.
Oguri Cap (Power)
This card is phenomenal to get a bunch of generic skills on your Mejiro McQueen, whichprepares her for both Medium and Long racesin her career.
