Lagiacrus might be the headliner for Title Update 2, but it isn’t the only beast being added toMonster Hunter Wilds. Originally introduced in 4 Ultimate, Seregios’s body is littered with scales that can be ejected at a moment’s notice, forcing players to contend with unexpected ranged attacks.
Before you’re able to start farming the flying wyvern for parts, you’ll need to slay it in the Clear With a Chance of Sandstorm quest. Thankfully, outside of some narrative set dressing at the beginning, this is largely a straightforward mission. Here are the best strategies to take down this new monster.
How To Begin The Quest
To begin the quest, you will need totravel to Kunafa Village; once there, speak with Neby, and she will tell yousome of her friends have ventured out on their own, even after warnings of a"strange monster"in the area. You and Alma leave to investigate, and after finding the children,a Seregios flies in, and the fight begins!
Best Equipment To Fight Seregios
The elementmost effective against Seregios is Thunder, so you’ll want to select a weapon from theRey Dau or Guardian Fulgur trees. Lagiacrus is also apt if you have already farmed enough materials to craft its equipment.Aimfor the legs and head, as they areespecially weak to elemental attacks.
A variety of Seregios attacksinflict Bleeding, so you’ll want to prepare yourself. TheGuardian Ebony Alpha armor setgives youthe equipment skillBleeding Resistance Lv3, whichnegates the status effect altogether. This makes it the perfect choice for a Seregios hunt.
Ironically, the Seregios Alpha armor set provides the same benefits while boasting much higher defense values.
Fighting Seregios
Seregios’s moveset is very muchin line with the other flying wyverns. you may expect it todive and claw at you, though these are bothtelegraphed and limited by range, letting you avoid them with ease.Approaching from behind will trigger tail attacks, but you can actually avoid them easily bysimply moving further inwardtoward its body.
A more frustrating technique to deal with isSeregios’s aerial claw swipe. The monster willhover a momentin the air, thenthrow its claws (and tail) in a circular motion. Due to the radius of the attack, dodging to the left or right is ill-advised, since you’ll likely still be hit.Moving backward is safer, and allows you to keep your quarry in sight.
These strikes also inflict Bleeding! Well-Done Steak, Astera Jerky, and Sushifish Scale can be used to quickly shed the ailment.
After thoroughly angering Seregios, it willflare its scales at you, assuming a much spikier and hostile appearance. It willdouble down on its aerial swipe attacks, but you really need tolook out for its projectiles. Scales will belaunched at you from its head and tail; your best bet is torun sidewaysto avoid the blast.
These scales can be picked up and launched from your slinger, dealing damage over time.
The key to this fight comes down torespecting Seregios’s aerial mobility and range. Often the best option is towait it out, allowing it toreturn to the groundbefore reengaging. Patience is not a weakness, but a strength!
After you’ve killed the monster, you’ll be given abrief cutscene of the children reconciling with a village elder, and the quest will be completed.
