Feather Priest - Lu Bingzhang is the second major boss that you’re able to fight inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, and just like the first, he can be a tricky customer if you’re not prepared.

Lu Bingzhang is a little bit of a step in difficulty from what Wuchang has thrown at you so far, mixing fast-hitting attacks with Corruption build-upto make himself a threat. Thankfully, he doesn’t have a phase transition like most of the game’s many boss fights, so once you’ve pinned down his moves, he’s as good as toast.

Where To Find Feathered Priest Lu Bingzhang

Quite possibly one of the easiest bosses to find, and therefore one of the easiest runbacks, the Feathered Priest can be foundlurking in the attic in the main temple in Shu Sanctum. All you need to do is go up the stairs next to the Shu Sanctum shrine, then head up the next set of stairs and open the double doors.

Preparation for Feathered Priest Lu Bingzhang

Not much you may really do in the way of preparation for Bingzhang, thoughone thing you’ll want to make sure you have on hand is Purple Camellia. Several of Bingzhang’s attackswill deal Corruption damage, while some attacks also leave puddles on the floor which will linger for a while. Having some of these to hand will alleviate the issue should the worst happen.

Outside of that, you can max out your Madness for a small damage increase, with no worries of calling forth your Inner Demon should you die. You can alsoequip any armor you have that’s resistant to Corruption build-up, just to double up on the protection from those attacks. TheDazzling Fake Monk Robesare a good choice, as they also have other decent defenses too.

If you want to make this fight a lot easier, you may use a Bone Whistle to summon an ally, provided you’ve been keeping up with Nian Suichang’s side quest to help him find medicine in Shu Sanctum.

Feathered Priest Lu Bingzhang’s Strengths And Weaknesses

Apart from his love of dealing Corruption damage,Bingzhang has several moves that will deal high damage and are extremely quick. One of these has himjump in the air and then slam into you, while another isa quick grab that will almost certainly kill you outright, or at least severely damage you. Thankfully, both of these attackshave tells that are easy to spot and hear.

When it comes to weaknesses,Bingzhang isn’t the most agile of bosses out there. He’ll sometimes jump around the room a little bit, but he’ll mostly shuffle towards you, meaning you haveplenty of time to back off and healshould you need it. He also spendsa lot of time recovering from any attacks he dishes out, so the whole boss fight is a case of avoiding his attack, wailing on him a little bit, and then repeating.

Counter

Spear Slam

Easily the boss’s strongest move, Bingzhang will fly into the air and prep a red spear. He’ll then quickly throw it at you, and follow it up with a powerful slam.

Thankfully, this is easy to dodge once you notice the signs. When his spear flashes red, dodge in any direction to avoid it. Similarly, when his staff flashes purple in the follow-up attack, do the same.

Staff Slam

Similar to the Spear Slam, this time Bingzhang will simply fly into the air and lunge at you with his staff.

Once again, wait until Bingzhang’s staff flashes purple, and then dodge in any direction.

Overhead Strike

A fairly slow attack during which Bingzhang will lift his staff over his head and hit you with it. It’s often followed-up with a 360 spin or other attack.

Just dodge in any direction, and then attack with a Blink Kick or other ability that can stun him out of any follow-ups.

Spin

A quick 360-degree spin, and the only move that doesn’t have much build-up. Once again, he’ll usually follow this up with an Overhead Strike or something else.

Similar to the Overhead Strike, you can dodge through the spin and then stun him out of the follow-up.

Aerial Magic

Bingzhang will float through the air from left to right, sending multiple purple fireballs your way which will cause Corruption build-up if they hit you.

You can follow Bingzhang’s movement and dodge to the right to avoid them, but make sure they’ve all hit the ground before you try to counter-attack.

Grab

Bingzhang’s will pull back his right arm, which will start glowing purple, and then quickly lunge at you.

Watch for the glow of Bingzhang’s arm, and listen out for the musical sting. You should see it coming fairly early, and you can dodge either left or right to avoid it.

Corruption Puddles

Bingzhang will slam the ground with his staff, causing puddles of Corruption to erupt underneath you. There are two variations, one with two puddles and another with seven.

Once Bingzhang starts striking the ground, just run right and occasionally dodge to make sure you’re out of range of each eruption.

How To Beat Feathered Priest Lu Bingzhang

The key to beating Bingzhang is pressure. He’ll take a while to recover from most of his attacks, giving you ample opportunity to get some of your own in on him. Additionally, he will also sometimes simply shuffle towards you, letting you fire off any ranged attacksyou might have equipped.

Due to how easy it is to punish Bingzhang for his attacks,it’s pretty easy to build up enough stagger to get off an Obliterate Strike or two, which will deal massive damage and leave him on the ground for some follow-up attacks. Justkeep an eye out for those Spear Slams and Grabs, and you shouldn’t have too much difficulty taking down Bingzhang and grabbing your rewards.
