Summary
Honda has finally given us a first look at its real-life motorbike version ofPokemon Scarlet’s Koraidon in action, and it’s even weirder than any of us were expecting.
AlthoughPokemon Scarlet & Violet were generally viewed as pretty big misseswhen they originally launched on the Switch in 2022 (a reputation that’s been fixed a bit by the Switch 2), they did have some good ideas. The best of the bunch was its unique legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon, who could turn into bikes that let you speed around the open world.
Koraidon and Miraidon being able to turn into bikes must have caused dollar signs to flash in Honda’s eyes, as it announced earlier this year that itwas going to be turning Koraidon into a real-life motorbike through the aptly-titled Project Koraidon. We got a brief look at the bike when it was announced, but we’ve now finally seen it in action.
If you’re wondering why Miraidon isn’t getting any love from Honda,it’s because Toyota already made a life-size bike based on Violet’s Pokemon.
We finally know what Honda’s Koraidon bike looks like in action
Safe to say I won’t be hopping on any time soon
Over on Twitter,Pokemon insider CentroLeaks shared a videothat was originally posted by Japanese Pokemon account poke_times.The video shows Project Koraidon moving along a track at a fairly slow speed, with a caption that reads, “Finally, it runs”. And yep, running certainly is the best way to describe how it moves.
As you can see for yourself, Honda’s Koraidon bike moves like it does in Pokemon Scarlet, as its legs are actually shown “running” as it moves along. They even seem to be hitting the floor somewhat, which creates a nice illusion ofhow Koraidon actually moves around when it’s just starting up.
Although it’s nice to see Koraidon in action after all the teases, the clip does raise more questions than it answers. Can Koraidon actually be driven around at a decent speed? Will those massive legs fold up when it starts moving fast enough? Is the bike’s strange design just a big accident waiting to happen?
We won’t know any of these until Honda shares more info on the bike, but it does still seem to be in the testing period sincepoke_times seems as surprised as us that it’s up and literally running. For now, though, it’s best to assume that it’s more of a novelty than something you’d actually want to drive around.
