Spare a thought for theHollow Knight: Silksongcommunity. It’s been over six years since the game was initially revealed, and for the most part, fans have been feeding off scraps since then. Prior to this year, they only had a couple of trailers anddelay announcementsto feed off.

This year has changed things, though. Despiteskipping both The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, Xbox confirmedthe game was still due for a 2025 release, an exhibition in Australiapromised a playable version of the game in September, and it has receiveddozens of Steam updates since the turn of the year, increasing in frequencyover the last month or so.

But maybe all of these changes are a little too much, with Silksong fans now convinced that Team Cherry themselves are trolling the community.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Gets First Steam Update In Five Days, Community Convinced Team Cherry Is Having Them On

I’ve said it before, the Hollow Knight: Silksong community is one of the best. Rather than sulk that the game hasn’t been released yet, they’vetaken to Redditto try and trick each other into believing that there has been some kind of Silksong news. They’ve affectionately termed this ‘Silkposting’. It’s great for a good laugh, but it also makesfinding official information more difficult; I guess that’s the point.

With every new Steam update, there is palpable excitement among fans, and today’s is no different. Although nothing significant has happened, simply seeing the ‘ChangeNumber’ move up a few digits indicates thatsomethingis happening. However, for some, with updates happening so frequently, they feel Team Cherry is now in on the Silkposting.

I swear Team Cherry is taunting us at this point,

Things have gotten so desperate for the community that, alongside creating a fake release date for the game earlier this year, they’ve begun to sacrifice moderators and other members from the Hollow Knight: Silksong subreddit. It seems like it’s working, though, as almost immediately following the latest round of sacrifices, Silksong received today’s Steam update.
