Hollow Knight: Silksong Supported Platforms Added To Steam In Game’s Latest Update

A lot has happened with Hollow Knight: Silksong this year. After announcing it wasdelayed indefinitely all the way back in 2023, Team Cherry went radio silent with the game. There was no news, no trailers, no updates, and this left the Silksong community in tatters. That was until earlier this year.

After countless fan theories, including a now-debunked ARG, things started to happen. Microsoftlisted the game as one of its major releases for 2025, seemingly confirming it would still be released this year, and the floodgates started to open. It receivedits first Steam update in six years, and then itreceived many more. It brieflyappeared during Nintendo’s Switch 2 showcase, wasconfirmed to be appearing at an exhibit in Australia, apotential physical edition appeared for pre-order, and countless “insiders” claimedthey knew it would be releasing “soon”. There’s no smoke without fire, as they say.

After multiple Steam updates over the last few days, including one that readied the game for purchase and another thatadded achievement languages, Hollow Knight: Silksong got another update, and this one really makes it feel like the game is close.

According toSteamDB, on June 6, Hollow Knight: Silksong received an update that added the operating systems supported by the game, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Naturally, for a game to release, a client needs to know which platforms said game will run on, and now, seemingly, Steam does know that, indicating the game is all but ready to go.

Of course, there are two prime candidates that Hollow Knight: Silksong could show up at.Summer Game Fest, which happens later today, is option one, with host and creator Geoff Keighley wanting to secure as many bangers for his show as possible. Secondly, happening on Sunday is the Xbox Showcase, which is just as plausible, given that Silksong has appeared at one of these previously.

Whenever and wherever it inevitably happens, the Silksong community deserves its plaudits. They’ve waited patiently for the last six years, ‘Silkposting’ each other on the game’ssubredditandcreating their own imaginary release dates. They deserve this moment.
