It’s been over 3,000 days since the release ofHollow Knight, and over 2,300 since the reveal ofHollow Knight: Silksong. We’ve had the full life cycle of theNintendo Switch, and we’re now on theSwitch 2, Taylor Swift has released six (!) full albums, and NFTs have come and gone since the original game was released.A lot has happened.
With no real end in sight to the pain, apart froma promise it will release at some point “before the holidays”, Hollow Knight fans have begun (and continued) to lose their collective minds. Things have gotten so bad at this point that they’ve started to offer themselves and others as sacrifices in an attempt to hasten the release of the game.
The Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Devolved Into Sacrifices As The Wait Takes Its Toll
The Hollow Knight: Silksongcommunityis one of the best on the internet. Despite some genuine feelings of disappointment that the game isn’t out yet, its members take everything in good spirits, trying their best toSilkpost each other(trick them into believing that there has been some official news) on a daily basis.
Every now and then, the community will try some wacky rituals to try to get the game to release. In the past, they’ve created their own fake release datesandrecreated the game in Minecraft, and now, they’re offering sacrifices.
A user on the game’s subreddit has starteda petitionto “sacrifice (ban) three random users on this sub, then unseal them when Silksong is released,” saying they “will be this sub’s Dreamers”, a reference to the first Hollow Knight game.
The post, which was quickly met with thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments, was flooded with players nominating themselves, and each other, as offerings. Adimirable-Switch-790said, “I nominate myself,” Cryptek303added, “I nominate this guy,” and Xtremekerbal capped things off bysaying, “I nominate both the above guys and myself.”
I nominate both the above guys and myself.
While the wait for the game has seemed to drag on forever, things have taken a positive turn this year. The game has receivedmultiple back-end updates on Steam, isbeing featured in anexhibition at a museum in Australia, anda physical edition has been listed by a retailer, among other developments. It has to be close.
