The actor behindHitman’s Agent 47, David Bateson, has revealed his all-time favourite game in the series, but he probably couldn’t have gone with a more controversial choice.
For a series that’s been going on for 25 years across eight mainline games and a bunch of spin-offs,Hitman’s quality has been remarkably steady. While most of us agree that therecent rebooted trilogy (now known as World of Assassination) is Hitman at its peak, there hasn’treallybeen a bad game in the series.
With that in mind, it’s relatively safe to pick a favourite Hitman game and have most of its community agree with you. That being said, there is one Hitman in particular that gets a few raised eyebrows if it’s your favourite, which is a fate that Hitman actor David Bateson is now going to have to suffer through.
You Probably Won’t Agree With David Bateson’s Pick For His Favourite Hitman Game
He’s Right, Though
If you’re a Hitman fan, then you already know that I’m not-so-subtly referring toHitman: Absolution, which, while a great game, was avery different take on the series that focused on story and action. That makes it a controversial choice if you say it’s your favourite, but you might have some more backing now that David Bateson has weighed in.
As pointed out by Icy_Might_8879 on the Hitman subreddit, Bateson recentlysat down with Fall Damage to talk about his long-running stintas everyone’s favourite gaming baldy. During the video, Bateson says that he “loves Absolution” and says that it’s one of his “all-time favourite games”.
That might sound wild considering Absolution’s mixed reputation, but Bateson does at least have some very good reasons for it. Agent 47’s actor explained that his love for the game came from getting to do some “real acting” since it was closer to a film script than previous Hitman games.
Personally I love Absolution, one of my all-time favourite games, because as an actor, I got to do some real acting. - David Bateson
Bateson even acknowledged that most Hitman fans like it less due to how different it was, while noting that how challenging it was for him as an actor is why he likes it so much.Bateson also pointed out that Absolution means a lot to him since he was almost dropped for Tom Cruise’s cousinbefore all the backlash got him back in the role.
