Hideo KojimaandKonami’sbreakup was one of the most public, most high-profile that the games industry has ever seen. In 2015, after a career at the company that spanned almost 30 years and included the creation of the legendaryMetal Gear Solidseries, reported “power struggles” meant that Kojima finished up his work on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and departed the studio, with Konami’s arm of Kojima Productions disbanded.
In the process, Konami removedP.T., Kojima’s beloved (and terrifying) ‘Playable Trailer’ from the PlayStation Store, canning Silent Hills, which was being co-directed by Guillermo del Toro, as part of the split.
Ten years on, it seems like this parting of ways has left still a sour taste in Kojima’s mouth, with the storied designer and producer laughing at the thought of playing the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3 remake,Delta: Snake Eater.
It’s Safe To Say, Hideo Kojima Has No Interest In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
In a new interview withSsense, the interviewer boldly asked Kojima if he had any intention of playing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. His response was typically fitting of the developer, with Ssense saying Kojima “laughed” before telling them, “No, I won’t.”
It comes as no surprise with Ssense reporting that Kojima prefers to spend his time “seeing fine art”, as opposed to playing video games, and given the history between Konami and himself, Delta: Snake Eater is likely to be far down on his list.
You have to imagine that the Kojima Productions founder is currently very limited in free time, anyway. Following the release ofDeath Stranding 2: On The Beach, his studio still has two games in the works,PhysintandOD, with the latter set to be an experience like no other in gaming, so it looks like his hands are full for the foreseeable future.
