Trying to appeal to as many kids as possible when deciding what toys to put in McDonald’s Happy Meals is a tall order. That’s likely why, starting on August 12, a collection of toys that combine characters fromHello Kittywith all fourTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesis coming to McDonald’s, bringing two gigantic fan bases together in one fell swoop.
McDonald’s revealed the unlikely crossover this week by showing off what will presumably be all 12 toys fast food fans will be tasked with collecting when Hello Kitty Leonardo and the rest of the incredibly unique toys find their way into Happy Meal boxes later this month. It’s unclear how - or even why, beyond appealing to as many people as possible - the crossover has come about, although there have been Hello Kitty x TMNT Happy Meal collabs in other parts of the world.
Hello Kitty and her friends are teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Something cropping up in a McDonald’s in one country doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll appear elsewhere, however. Thankfully for Hello Kitty and TMNT fans, in this case, it will. The collection of crossover toys is headed to the US on August 12and will be made up of a combination of Hello Kitty characters masquerading as Ninja Turtles, and vice versa.
For example, the four characters you may see at the front of the image shared by McDonald’s are more Ninja Turtle than Sanrio mascot. From left to right, you’ve got Cinnamroll Michelangelo, My Melody Donatello, Hello Kitty Leonardo, and Kuromi Raphael. Some of the other toys switch up the ratio so they’re more Sanrio character than Ninja Turtle, including Kuromi in a Michelangelo mask, and Hello Kitty cosplaying as Raphael. The full list of toys available through the Happy Meal crossover can be found below.
McDonald’s Happy Meals are on a heck of a run in 2025. You can alsoattach your Switch 2 Joy-Con to a McDonald’s fries holder via this new accessory. It’s not official, but the design is free to download and waiting to be 3D-printed.
