In what many would consider unsurprising, Arrowhead Studios is doubling down onHelldivers 2, making it clear that it’s here for the long haul.

Last December,Helldivers 2 game director, Johan Pilestedt, claimedArrowhead Studios is “growing Helldivers 2 into Helldivers 3”. Today, studio CEO Shams Jorjani spoke on how Arrowhead still doesn’t have a sequel planned at all. While live on the official Discord server for Helldivers 2 (as reported byGamesRadar+), Jorjani said, “HD3 is hopefully many years away,” which could be taken as the “growth” Pilestedt mentioned before.

Jorjani went on to explain that while it is “great to be along for the ride,” the studio’s primary focus is to continue working on Helldivers 2 until the wheels fall off, revealing he does indeed know where the road leads for the future of Helldivers 2.

But while there is a plan, Arrowhead isn’t locking anything in. Speaking earlier this month, community manager Katherine “Baskinator” Baskin said that everything about Helldivers 2 is “subject to change” as development continues.

When asked about a potential wind-down for Helldivers 2, community manager Baskin also stated, “Helldivers can run for a long time if people keep playing it”, backing up what Arrowhead’s CEO has now said about a hypothetical sequel.

Helldivers 2 Isn’t Going Anywhere

Indeed, Helldivers 2 has received plenty of updates, some of which have surprised us. Out of the blue, it was revealed that Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox earlier this month. It will launch on August 26 later this year. However, the developer has made it clear that it willnot be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

As for what else we’ll see in the future, it’s unclear if larger team sizes will be part of this. Director Pilestedt has previously said thatthis isn’t possible right now, but considering the team does talk about it a lot, it isn’t completely ruled out.
