Xboxowners have been having a rough time of it lately. On top of the platform’s exclusives being slowly ported to other platforms, which I still don’t see as bad, but some do,mass layoffs at Microsoftresulted in Xbox studios being gutted and games getting canceled. After all that, the imminent arrival of Helldivers 2gave them something to cling to, but somePlayStationplayers don’t even want them to have that.
With some of Xbox’s biggest series arriving onPS5, it was only a matter of time until something went the other way. That something will beHelldivers 2asthe PlayStation-published title will arrive onSeries X|Son June 17, 2025.Most have been celebrating what will be an influx of new Helldivers joining the battle for Super Earth; however, some of the sequel’s less accepting veterans have other ideas.
Helldivers 2 veterans are already plotting against incoming Xbox players
The console war is over, please stop
Shortly after the Helldivers 2 on Xbox reveal, one player who presumably plays the game on PlayStation - though you never can tell for sure with these people if they have even played the game at all -issued a rallying cry, requesting those who don’t want the game to be ported to make themselves known. That prompted another player to outline a plan for anyone who wants to ruin the game for anyone who plans to play Helldivers 2 on Xbox.
One of the most fun things about Helldivers 2, for me at least, is the friendly fire. Dropping a strategem and accidentally wiping out half your team in the process. The keyword there is accidental. Some of the unhappy PS5 players are planning to weaponize that feature, calling for long-time players to use the powerful weapons and stratgems they’ve unlocked to effectively grief their own Xbox teammates on launch day.
On top of killing them over and over, the call to action also urges PlayStation players to steal samples, something new players will be in dire need of, and ruin extractions. The silver lining to all this is that, as far as I can tell, these saboteurs are in the minority. Most people are excited for a whole new batch of Helldivers to join the fight. The game’s numbers aren’t struggling by any means, but the more, the merrier.
Those excited for Helldivers 2’s arrival on Xboxare already fantasizing about a Halo-inspired warbond. There’s already beena Killzone crossover warbond, so an official crossover with another series is entirely possible. It could also be the perfect way to bridge the gap toHalo’s imminent arrival on PS5. No, it’s not official, but you know it’s coming. Brace yourselves for the unwarranted chaos when that gets announced.
