Following two of the worst days forXboxever, we’ve finally got some good news asHelldivers 2has just been announced forXbox Series S and X- and it’s coming sooner than you might think.
Over the past year and a bit,Xbox has massively changed its directionand basically gone full third-party,leading to almost all of its games coming to PlayStation. That favour hasn’t been returned so far, asSony has remained very careful about its exclusives- well, apart from a few.
We’ve seen a couple of games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake that are basicallyjust timed PlayStation exclusives make the leap over to Xbox. While that’s notquitethe same approach as whatMicrosofthas been doing, it does show that it can happen from time to time. Case in point, Helldivers 2.
Suit Up, Xbox Players, You’re Finally Getting A PlayStation Exclusive
Oh, How The Tables Have Turned
For some time now, Helldivers 2 fans have wanted to see the game launch on Xbox to bring democracy over to a whole new platform. It’s something that Arrowhead has even seemed on board with, while noting that it would be up to Phil Spencer and Sony to sort out. Well, it seems that they finally have.
Earlier today,a special Helldivers 2 announcement stream took place, which revealed that the game is finally going to be coming to Xbox Series on August 26. Arrowhead’s chief creative officer Johan Pilestedt announced the news during the very short stream, confirming that “more dudes” are on the way.
August 26 is also the day that Gears of War: Reloaded launches on PlayStation, which now seems like an interesting little trade. It’s probably just a coincidence, though.
Pilestedt noted that the arrival of Helldivers 2 on Xbox is something that the team is very proud of, as well as requesting that PlayStation and Steam players help out the new batch of Helldivers. That seems like it’s going to be easy enough to do, asXbox’s announcement page for Helldivers 2 confirms that crossplay will be included.
