Summary

Rockstar’s random and massive news drop forGrand Theft Auto 6might have hinted that the series is finally letting players listen to music outside of vehicles, something thatWatch DogsandSaints Rowdid more than a decade ago.

Although this month started off looking like itwould be one of the worst in recent memory for GTA fans thanks to a year-long delay, it ended up being greatthanks to the long-awaited debut of the game’s second trailer. The trailer alone had tons of details and secrets to uncover, but even more were revealed thanks to an update to GTA 6’s website.

That update included a ton ofnew screenshots and videos showing Jason and Lucia in action around Vice City. While most of the images just show off how great GTA 6 is going to look, there were a few in particular that had some interesting details, including two that fans think are hinting towards the addition of a long-requested feature.

GTA 6 Screenshots Suggest Lucia And Jason Can Listen To Music On The Go

And Yet Here I Am Thinking About Watch Dogs 2 Again

The feature in question is the ability to play music on your phone while walking (or shooting) around the open world, which GTA 5 surprisingly never bothered with. Other open-world games like Watch Dogs and Saints Row evolved with the times and let you listen to music outside of vehicles, but GTA has weirdly avoided adding the optiondespite how much it’s been requested.

As pointed out by Twitter user SynthPotato, two screenshots that were uploaded by Rockstar show Lucia wearing the GTA equivalent of AirPods while she’s working out and relaxing in the pool. Although it could just be part of some cutscenes, considering how wanted the mechanic has been over the years, it does seem like a not-so-subtle hint from Rockstar that a music player is coming.

It’s worth noting that Michael did wear headphones in one of GTA 5’s cutscenes, so it’s not like they’veneverappeared in the series before. Their prominence here makes it seem like they’ve got a bit more to them, though.

If it really is a hint that Jason and Lucia can listen to music whenever they want, it’ll likely be very similar to how it worked in Watch Dogs and Saints Row, with players being able to put together their own playlist on their phones or tune into a radio station. However it potentially works, GTA’s soundtracks are so legendary that it’s sure to be a good addition.
