It’s pretty much a given thatGrand Theft Auto 6is going to make more money than any normal person can feasibly imagine. What we don’t know is how ludicrous a sum it’s going to be, with projections at the start of the yearsitting at somewhere around $3 billion in its first year on sale. That’s a staggering amount of money, but those projections are now being called into question.
GTA 6 Is Expected To Bring In Over $7 Billion In Just Two Months
In a new LinkedIn post by Josh Chapman(thanks GameSpot), a managing partner for video game venture capitalist firm Konvoy, it’s claimed that the firm’s projections have Grand Theft Auto 6 bringing in way more cash. According to Konvoy, GTA 6 is expected to bring in a whopping $7.6 billion just two months after launch, going on to become the biggest video game launch of all time.
It’s worth noting that Konvoy is making certain assumptions when it comes to this figure, assuming that GTA 6 will be $80 at launch and that the game itself cost $2 billion to make, which is the upper end of recent estimations. If GTA 6 were to cost $100 at launch, which is a very real possibility and has been heavily rumored for quite some time, this total could shift up or down.
Taking that into account, Konvoy also believes that GTA 6 will recoup its development costs in just 30 days. It also believes that GTA 6 will probably include a platform that will allow players to create their own worlds and content with their own creator economy, similar to how Roblox functions. All of these are predictions, but they’re backed up with logic and well within the realms of possibility.
However, that’s exactly what they are - predictions. We won’t know how well GTA 6 performs until that day arrives, and even then, studios love to be picky about how much info they make public in regard to sales. With projections now between $3.2 billion and $7.6 billion, it feels clear to me that the magnitude of the launch means nobody is really sure how it will all play out. Regardless, GTA 6 will make a lot of money, that much is guaranteed.
