Mere moments after the trailer dropped, excited fans began to comb every second, looking for the details that Rockstar inevitably hid away. One fan then screenshotted anduploaded all 5,002 frames from the 2:47-long video, making this job easier.
Since then, players havelooked at NPC sandals, links betweenGTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and thecarbonation of the game’s beer.
This latest spot is a little different, though. It offers another connection betweenRockstar’stwo premier franchises andalso gives us a glimpse at protagonist Jason’s military background.
Jason Aims His Weapon With Both Eyes Open In Grand Theft Auto 6
Typically, if you’re not trained to shoot a weapon, you’ll aim with one of your eyes closed, hoping to get the best shot at your target. If you are trained to a high degree, you’ll learn to shoot with both eyes open. This is something protagonist Jason seems to do in Grand Theft Auto 6, if one screenshot is to be believed.
Firstposted on the GTA 6 subreddit, one user noted the small detail in a close-up image of Jason firing his weapon uploaded to theGTA 6 website. This sparked rampant speculation among the community.
The small detail was first expanded on by KingKontinuum, whosaid, “Like a trained professional.” Bucky133 followed up,saying, “Some people might think it’s an oversight but more likely a hint to his military experience.”
It’s likely a hint to his military experience.
While some players focused on Jason’s military background, others looked at how his shooting style was very similar to that of another Rockstar protagonist.
“It’s like Arthur Morgan inRed Dead Redemption 2. John [Marston], on the other hand, uses one eye,“saidOk_Pen_6595. This led to further theory-crafting in the comments.
Ok_Pen added, “I wonder if Lucia and Jason will have the same differences — Jason, being military trained, has both eyes open, whilst Lucia, who isn’t military, might use one eye.” At the same time, HeskenvilleHero speculated, “Maybe it’s tied to the Shooting stat? Maybe Jason starts with a higher shooting stat than Lucia since he’s military, and when Lucia gets her shooting stat up, she uses both eyes instead of one.”
